Usually the opposite, I tend to get harsher on games over time. Mario Party 6 was about an 8 for all my childhood, but a 9 from adulthood onward. I was spoiled with good Mario Party at the time and didn't know how good I had it. I think the only Mario Party game I prefer is Jamboree, especially once paid content is added.

Yeah, same here. When I revisit games after a few years I typically score them lower. Partially because I’ve exposed myself to more games in the interim, and partially because I’m able to be a little more detached when I evaluate them. There are some examples going in the other direction, though. I have warmer feelings about Mario Kart Wii now than I did during the 7th generation, thanks to the Wii courses in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass. That was a very helpful reminder about how great the track design is in that game. |
I love Mario Kart Wii, and always have. Granted I don't think I've played it in about 12 years. The track design and roster are pretty peak, and the Battle Mode is up there too. It's the item balancing that is way out of whack to me, even for a Mario Kart game.
I would say Xenoblade Chronicles ever so slightly grew on me (but still a 9 on a ten point scale both times) when I went from the Wii original and played DE years later. It helps that not only was I now more familiar with the story and mechanics to invest more but I turned it down to casual for a less lengthy and easier experience.
