There's something really gross about a used VR headset. I can't even touch other people's phones without quite litterally wanting to rip the skin off, of my hands. My face would never allow me inside of someone elses headset no matter how well cleaned.

I know but luckily the pads that contact your head on the PSVR1 are removable and can be deep cleaned. Don't know if they are on other headsets though. Realistically the only way most people will try it is, if one of their friends had one so if everyone feels like you VR will definitely never take off lol.

It's all easy to wipe anyway. The only 'issue' is ear wax on the ear buds, use your own personal headphones! (Or just use TV/amp sound)

But yes, some people use VR for exercise and sweat heavily into the headset. Some even report to have broken the headset from excessive sweating... And another issue is the lenses are easily scratched, so beware before buying 2nd hand.

With games like Rez Infinite you never know where refurbished rumble controllers have been ;)

Beware the pink dual sense also. Damn thing even sounds like a sex toy.

I still use my VR headset fairly often. I admit, I don't find myself playing many different games on it these days. Been awhile since a new game came out that truly impress me but I still play games like Beat Saber, Thrill of the fight, Pistol whip as a fun way to exercise fairly often.

Yes some of us when we say we use VR to exercise is actually talking about PG definition.

I still using PC VR a Vive Pro 2 that I bought in 2021. I use the Index controllers that I had since 2019 and I still using my original Lighthouse base stations that I got with my original Vive back in 2016. Since I have a dedicated room where I do VR I was able to mount my base stations on the wall which means it take me not more than a min to get going in VR. Hit the on bottom on my VR interface, Open Vive Console, open steam vr, put on headset and start game.

I plan on upgrading hardware every 5 years (vive 2016, Vive Pro 2 2021) so am hoping the rumor Valve Deckard will release next year and be good so that can be my 2026 upgrade. If Deckard never release or have disappointing specs am not sure what I get next year or might decide not to upgrade. There definitely stuff better then what I have but everything seem like small improvements nothing truly "next gen".

Been looking at the market for many years, but I still find the cost to be way too high for what you get. The amount of actual good games made specifically for VR is nowhere near worth it. There's also added issues of space at home, and storing the gear itself, I have very limited storage as well in my apartment (typical newly constructed "area efficiency" planning).

Yes, love it.

I got into Cave Crave next to messing around more in Hitman. It's fairly simple, crawl through narrow passages while collecting fossils. The challenge is path finding in the maze of twisty passages in all directions. You have a piece of chalk to mark your way at cross-roads with arrows or other markings, free writing, as well as a hammer to break stalagmites out of the way and you can use smaller rocks to mark your path as well. Lastly you have handholds you can jam into the wall for vertical sections while managing your stamina for climbing.

It's quite something else to get lost in a confusing cave system in VR. The 'evil' part is, you can't save midway, either find the exit or start over next time. I did find the exit again in Devil's cave but didn't meet the requirement to mark all slabs. I was just glad to get back out lol. Will do it again tonight, now more familiar with that cave system.

I don't store the headset, I simply put it in front of the TV when not playing, always connected to the ps5, ready to go. The sense controllers have their own charging dock. So it's always easy to pick up and play in 30 seconds.

Playing in VR always feels like a satisfying 'adventure' while games on TV long ago started feeling more like chores, todo lists to check off, grinding for the sake of grinding more efficiently. VR put the play back in gaming for me. 'Beating' games no longer a goal, experiencing and experimenting is now the main goal.

No, but interested.

I think for me it’s the AR/VR direction that interests me the most.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

No, but I'm looking forward to.
