Achievement/Trophy system isn't good for the games. It forces people to collect rather then enjoy.

No it doesnt, that is a "You" problem, not a problem of the feature.

You can still play and finish games normally, you just choose not to do so.

Yes, it is also a me problem. I grew up playing Video games in the early 90s, these systems didn't exist back then and I feel I enjoyed gaming a lot more due to it. Games are excellent today but the addictiveness of Achievement systems get to some of us, maybe not for you but for others it might interfere. Just because you can spend money in the lottery and not get hooked is awesome for you, doesn't mean others are the same. yes, that was abit of an extreme example and no I don't gamble.

Dont Gamble kids.

I wish MS never created them.

Hmm. If I remember correctly it was Activision working with Atari that implemented high score records. MS creating an over arching score for an entire library was genius but they were ahead of their time like most things they do and Sony was able to take the idea and make something actually polished out of it. I don't think it is that you wish they hadn't created it them but it is that they haven't evolved them to make them all that they can be and curated them to make them sensible cause you can turn them off entirely and hide them from your account even avoiding simple things like allowing players to edit their avhievments and fully delete what they don't want, your stance would be like wishing Activision never did personalised high scores.

They have this idea and it's genius, it keeps players tied to an ecosystem and Sonys first party trophy support clearly shows they fully know how strong that tether is. It's something that can be really built upon but none of them will alter it since 2008 leaving us with these early ideas of a system akin to having 3 letters be the marker for your high score in the 80's.

High score existed. :P

For me trophies are a love/hate thing. There’s times where I’ll find a secret or something interesting by going for a trophy that I definitely wouldn’t have found otherwise and some trophies are generally fun to obtain. But on the other hand there’s times where going for a trophy has soured my opinion on a game just by how bullshit the requirements are. Now you’ll say, “it’s a me problem” or why even bother and sure but there’s two dopamine hits paying a game, finally seeing the credits roll after an enjoyable game and seeing that final trophy/achievement pop. It really adds to the definitive end of a game for me. That’s a hard thing to just give up. Maybe it’s a problem in my head, having to see something at 100% to be satisfied or maybe it’s addiction. I still hold the original Xbox as the best console ever as for me the few years I spent playing the same 3-4 games where just pure enjoyment and that system never had achievements so maybe they have taken some level of enjoyment or engagement outta a gaming for me.

ill be more impressed if they achieve a minimum cart size that doesn't require 90% of the game to be downloaded.

The older you get the more you will realise game achievements really add no value to a game as life takes over your time, so you want to be able to enjoy the core experience.

not even remotely the same thing.

that wasn't a cart size issue that was devs not wanting to optimize/compress. Xenoblade X on Wii U is 23GB. Switch with more content and better visuals. 13GB. Witcher got all content on a 32GB cart. Compression is a lost art and this issue is the same on many PS5/SX games.

It's exactly the same thing. It's a record of achievment for doing something in game and a score is attached, PS's score is more in the background but the numbers are available if you wanna look them up.

It was though, they wanted to use the 8gb to save $5-$10 bux.
