For me trophies are a love/hate thing. There’s times where I’ll find a secret or something interesting by going for a trophy that I definitely wouldn’t have found otherwise and some trophies are generally fun to obtain. But on the other hand there’s times where going for a trophy has soured my opinion on a game just by how bullshit the requirements are. Now you’ll say, “it’s a me problem” or why even bother and sure but there’s two dopamine hits paying a game, finally seeing the credits roll after an enjoyable game and seeing that final trophy/achievement pop. It really adds to the definitive end of a game for me. That’s a hard thing to just give up. Maybe it’s a problem in my head, having to see something at 100% to be satisfied or maybe it’s addiction. I still hold the original Xbox as the best console ever as for me the few years I spent playing the same 3-4 games where just pure enjoyment and that system never had achievements so maybe they have taken some level of enjoyment or engagement outta a gaming for me.
