PS2 in concept and design.
I would say PS4 would be the 2nd closest but it didnt leave a lasting impact for me as the PS2 did.

PS4/PS2 > PS1 ~ PS5 > PS3 so far for me. Tho theres probably some recency bias here.
PS2. If you were there and old enough to at least drive... you know. Any other answer is incorrect. The PS2 had such a lock-down and stranglehold on that generations best games, that is impossible for any Playstation to best it. You either had one, or you were missing out on 75% of that gens best games. PS2 is their greatest system. Hands down.
For me, PlayStation 2. Most PS systems have stellar third-party support, but not every one has great first-party content. What makes the PS2 so special is that it had both. The Sony-published games were excellent and the contributions from Capcom, Namco, Konami, Rockstar, Activision, Ubisoft, etc. were outstanding.
Overall, I’d go PS2>PS1>PS4>PS3>PS5>PSP>PSV
Ps4 without a shadow. I understand now how people could say older iterations after the soft disaster PS5 is on so many games.

Agreed on every word. One of the very few notable flaws of PS4 is no backwards compatibility. Considering they digitally emulated dozens of PS2 games that are for sale (even before the PS Plus relaunch), those games should be accepted physically even if it requires a download for the whole game.
As much as I love Nintendo games, PS4 more or less matches or even exceeds the library of Switch. At least when you consider some of the multiplat titles perform better on PS4.
To clarify more about my history with PS hardware, I've never used a PS1 or PSP and never owned a PS2 (played it at other's houses).
1. PS4
2. PS3
3. Vita
PS5 isn't fair enough to rank quite definitively yet, but it goes above Vita for sure. I would put PS2 above Vita and maybe above PS3 (but I'm hesitant).
Lifetime Sales Predictions

I think ps3 got my most play time out of all systems, I really did enjoy that generation, but based upon all available tech I have to say that from a hardware perspective I like the ps5 the most. It has the perfect controller, never seen a better one, it allows me to play games on a portable system via the ps portal and I can still play games when I am far away from my console. Even Games like the older uncharted entries are still fun to play on it and don’t feel so aged as compared to my 65“ tv. The addition of PSVR2 with games like Resident Evil 4 remake really make the console shine even though it may not have the best lineup of games especially exclusive ones in comparison to previous generations. I think it is a well rounded system overall and I really enjoy playing on it
I would say PS4 is the best standalone PS console but it has a massive flaw in that it does not support backwards compatibility (aside from some emulated releases and streaming older games).
Then I would say the PS3 is the best. Best library and access to PS2 and PS1 games (my original model at least).

For me it's either PS1 or PS3.
PS1 was a huge part of my childhood, and the leap to 3D just felt so mind-blowing and magical at the time. Spyro, Crash, and Croc were some of my fondest memories of gaming.
PS3 was the peak of Sony's first party output in my book with the likes of Uncharted 1-3, Resistance 1-3, Motorstorm trilogy, Puppeteer, TLOU, Killzone 2/3, Wipeout HD, etc. It was also a great gen for third parties with stuff like the Mass Effect trilogy, Bioshock games, Dead Space, Vanquish, COD MW1-3/BO1-2/World at War, Bulletstorm, Binary Domain, etc.
PS3 had more games I'd consider great, but PS1 was more revolutionary.
