Sega or Xbox hardware?

Sega 21 63.64%

Xbox 9 27.27%

No opinion 3 9.09%

Atari, haha 0 0%

I was born as Mega Drive/Genesis was already replaced by Saturn and Sega was struggling.

Sega is probably the most beloved line of consoles that exited the industry (I don't see people going to bat for Atari much, as 2600 and 7800 were perhaps their only good platforms to most).

The same year Dreamcast was discontinued, Xbox arrived in Autumn.

Do you prefer Sega or Xbox platforms? Software can be a huge part of the discussion but not Sega software released after the Dreamcast.

Before this devolves into such and such is overrated and blah blah had only one good console ignorance and idiocy.

I love original Xbox and 360. Enjoying my Series X (tho aside from Gears IDGAF about Xbox output) tho Xbox managament is shit.

That said SEGA. Old SEGA from ARCADES to Consoles. Genesis. Master System. Game Gear. Dreamcast (my fave console ever) Saturn (3rd fave ever) Just giveme joy. Pure joy when I play them.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Never have played Sega, never have played Microsoft. Only play Nintendo and Sony. Anybody have recommendations for Sega Dreamcast or any Xbox system? I need to broaden my horizons a little.

Sega. Quite frankly, I'd switch Sony and Microsoft to Sega and Atari any day on the console market. Then again, there's also a difference between Bushnell's Atari and Tramiel's Atari and the Warner-Namco joint venture.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

I didnt like the Genesis controller and the actual console wasnt anything special.

That is my only extent to SEGA systems because I didnt know Dreamcast, Saturn or anything else existed until I came online to gaming forums lol

As for Xbox, I like the controllers and have to say the Series S looks pretty damn good design and size wise. Series X looks....interesting in design though I wished it was just a bigger version of Series S.

Cant speak for the actual Xbox, 360 or One since I never had any of those.

Xbox probably would've already left the console business and only been software and services by now if Microsoft wasn't such a megacorporation.

If Sega had far more money and was profitable on the whole back then, they could've kept throwing money at consoles for generations after Dreamcast.

It's funny to me to think that Atlus games could've become exclusive to Sega hardware if Sega consoles survived longer.

I don't have any attachment to Sega (except for atlus) so I'd say Xbox

I picked Sega because of Like a Dragon bit then I realised that Xbox has Indiana, Halo, Forza, Gears, they now back Bethesda so they have TES, Fallout, Doom and then there's COD, Diablo and so much more. I dunno why I was so quick to Sega when Xbox is a massive publisher. They have bigger, more popular IP than Sony and Nintendo.

Good thread; I was actually thinking of making this myself, guess great minds think alike! ;)

I think it's a relatively close contest to be honest. The Xbox and 360 were excellent consoles, but so were the Megadrive and Dreamcast. The Saturn I also have a soft spot for.

Was never a huge fan of Sonic, (though the 16-bit games were decent) but Sega did have a bunch of other great games; Panzer Dragoon, Nights into Dreams, Ecco the Dolphin, Altered Beast, Shenmue, etc.

Ultimately I think I have to go with Xbox as the 360 is for my money one of the greatest consoles of all time, and I personally rank it above any of Sega's machines. To Sega's credit, I think they put up a pretty good fight here.

Yeah. most would argue Mega Drive, Saturn, and Dreamcast can all put up a fight against all the Xbox consoles. And then you have the Master System, Game Gear, and even the initial JP-only SG-1000 too.

But Xbox and Xbox 360 are so beloved that I think it would make most prefer Xbox unless they really love Japanese games in general or Sega titles.

I didn't vote in the poll because I've only played a tiny bit of Genesis. Because of that, Xbox would win massively.

Still, as someone who's mostly into sixth generation and onward, Sega has a huge disadvantage there.
