FF16. Maybe it took too long for the PC port? Maybe because the port is crap? I wanted to play it really hard but haven't bothered since release to buy it.

I know that feeling, but in another context. I don't know the correct term, but I am pretty sure it is that one feeling young children have when they fight over a toy, but once they have it, they don't play with it.

I don't mean this in bad faith. I am certain there is a reason for this.

In my experience, kids do that because of sibling rivalry. But I don’t think that’s the term you’re looking for. Perhaps a better example is a crush on a girl who isn’t available, but then when she is available, you’ve moved your crush on to someone else. The term is “impulsiveness” - that is, you want something, but lose interest in it once the mystique/attraction wears off.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I like games and all but tbh, I don't want to fuck them.

Granted I don't have a PS5 yet, but the only answer I can think of is FF7 Rebirth.

Reading that the game takes around 200hrs to Platinum (it'll take me longer I know for a fact), including wading through tons of mini games and a 2nd play through is just too much for me. Not a time investment I'm willing to make.

By association, the release also made me ignore FF7 Remake even with it in my PS+ list. And while I'll keep up with trailers and reviews for whatever the final game is, I know for a fact I ain't playing it.

I don't think that ever happened to me for games I was absolutely on board from their announcement to release.

But since I'm hanging on 1 console + PC(for my Adventure/VN games mostly), I curate enough my selection that games I do be interested in but not full on board are games I will usually purchase and maybe place in "to play at some point" list.

This happens a lot for me. Probably has something to do with the Most Wanted threads. I get hyped about games and then just never buy them. Then again, it’s better than when I would get excited for a game, buy it, and then never play it.

Yeah, lol. I remember those days when you'd buy a game and it'd just sit there after doing the tutorial or something and then a month later, "ah, new game, I have to have it, I bet it's great to play" aaaaand...sits there in the pile after the tutorial. Fuck, to be young and stupid again.

Steam Sales didn’t help. I swear I have played maybe 1/3rd of my library if that. 😅

Gran turismo 7. I was so hyped for it, bought it on release, but i was occupied with another game when it released. And i still haven't touched it 2 years later...

The game isn't out yet (will it ever?), but I was hyped for Silksong seeing it at that 2019 E3 Nintendo Treehouse event. Nowadays I shrug hearing its name.
