Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Who else is not ready to move on to next-gen Nintendo?

Seems like most of the people who can't wait for next gen to start are very focused on graphics and resolutions haha. Graphics don't make games boys. All systems have amazing graphics these days. Sure it'll be exciting to see Nintendo franchises in next gen graphics, but personally I think that's a silly reason to not like the Switch anymore. But hey, I know many gamers are very focused on graphics and decide whether they like a game or not simply based on framerate or resolution lol and that's the most important thing for them. (don't cry at me for calling you out haha)

While of course the world is ready for the next gen Nintendo as the market has been close to saturated since about a year ago, and it doesn't make any sense to do another round of Nintendo franchises on Switch, I'm more just talking about how many great games there are on Switch, as an individual it is hard to actually be done with the system cuz there's too many amazing games on it.

Why would there need to be a new gen if it wasn't for Graphics. Graphics do make a game, Try playing Dwarf fortress before they added "Graphics" and then play it with the added visuals and see the difference in confusion and playability it makes.

I'm one who has even made threads on here that say Graphics are approaching a feeling of being too real and are visually screwed up but to say Graphics don't make a game is as silly as saying money doesn't make a game. It can change everything about the game, right down to the feel of the gameplay as visual aids. Vampire Survivors doesn't have much Graphics but what it does have is visual flair that gives you feedback. Graphics matter.

@OP. I've no reason to upgrade, I don't want to upgrade and I'm fine with the Switch. I won't upgrade to play new games even though if it gets cheap enough I'll buy for a true next Fire Emblem game should it get great reviews but that's deep, deep sale, maybe used.

I am going to assume that the new system will have BC, so a backlog of games probably isn't much of an argument for sticking with nearly 10 year old mobile tech.  Other than if it would be financially irresponsible to purchase the next system when it comes out, I can think of no reason not to embrace it.  Switch 2 has been a long time in coming, and it's time to take the next step.

For whatever reason Unicorn Overlord isn't on PC. So yeah, hopefully it is an early S2 launch title. Been wanting to play it.

Sorry @Chrkeiler, I can't edit my previous post for some reason, what I wanted to say is Unicorn Overlord is on Switch you know and at 60fps. Why wait for the Switch 2 ?

Honestly I assumed it was 30 fps.  Fair point.  I'll check the resolution.  It may not require better hardware to run it.

Thanks Mar.

No problem. Though, the game is mostly 2D so I think it wasn't exactly a taxing endeavor either considering the Switch was most likely the targeted primary platform (and the best selling one too)

It also reminds that I'd be glad if we get an update on the 500K copies sold so far since it's launch. Last time was in April.

No rush in it - plenty of Switch games to play.

I have the OG Switch since 2020 and bought a OLED Switch earlier this year.

I'm with you on that. I'm not on a hurry to buy the Switch 2 and I don't follow this "urge for better technology for better graphs cult" we have in the game industry

Tbh at this point I'm ready for Switch 2 now. The Switch has done so amazing this gen and so much to the point where I feel completely satisfied with the Switch gen at this point and there isnt really anything more they could do to make it even better or bring as many surprises anymore with the current hardware. I felt like everything I've wanted done on the Switch has already happened.

I want to be surprised with new Nintendo games again on new hardware like I was going from SD to HD graphics from the Wii to Wii U. If you think about it, if you owned a Wii U we haven't really seen Nintendo graphics take a major leap in over a decade. Yea the Switch definitely had better graphics than the Wii U, but it wasn't such a crazy leap like we typically see with new consoles.
I'm not at all tryna bash the Switch, it's my favorite console of all time and best Nintendo gen of all time, but eventually every console needs to come to a close once it runs out of meaningful surprises.
