Just Finished: Star Fox 64 3D (3DS)

Is that the best you got, Fox? I played the original Star Fox through NSO last year. It was more of a novelty for me, a very early 3D console game. It was pretty rough to play through. Star Fox 64 easily has the best reputation in the series. I went out of my way to track down a copy of the 3DS version. This game is definitely more playable. The graphics are pretty good for a 3DS game and I can honestly say it is one of the best showcases of the system's 3D gaming. Other than that though, the game still feels quaint and antiquated. A rail shooter that sometimes allows you to move freely, the gameplay is basic and run of the mill. I also am not a fan of the structure, with its branching campaign paths based on meeting certain conditions with the mission. A playthrough of the game lasts about 1 hour. I went back and replayed most of the levels in the Score Attack mode. Total play time clocked in just under 4 hours. I have had my fill. The story and characters are week but I did not expect from them in the first place. I didn't get to try the online or local multiplayer. Maybe it is fun playing with others. With this being the so called pinnacle of the series, I'm not sure if I will ever seek to play any of the other Star Fox games, 2, Adventures, Assault, Command, or Zero. This series ain't for me.

Fallout 4 

So before the PS5 version arrived, I had a go of my PS4 one and realised I had 1 trophy to get, to get the plat, never realised. so finsihed that but looking up how to do it and did all the new missions on that version. They were not very special.

Booted up the PS5 version once it launched and while the frame rate was great, it crashed 4 times and one literally turned of my console. Literally thought it bricked it.

Anyway, finished the story so done with that. No there to get a plat on this, just wanted to see how they updated it.

Rise of the Ronin

An interesting game about Bakumatsu period in Japan. As a team Ninja game it doesn't quite reach the heights of Nioh 2, but I enjoyed it more than Wolong or Strangers of Paradise. The open world is fine and not too annoying, running on foot is very quick too. The combat is great, but the focus is still on parry over aggressive dodges. Nioh 2 being like Bloodborne with aggressive dodges I find much more enjoyable than Wolong or Rise of the Ronin being like Sekiro. There are 3 difficulties and I find normal difficulty to be either too easy or too difficult, even one of the strongest bosses on easy posed quite the challenge. Now that I am playing in postgame, there is only one difficulty, and that is quite challenging. I will play until I get frustrated enough to buy a new game. Overall, this game is solid and worth playing if you desire the samurai combat or like history. The main campaign is solid enough and there is a lot of postgame content if you desire more.

I have Eiyden chronicle rising on my PS4, seems pretty simplistic and boring. Does it get better after the first hour or two or is it more of the same?
