Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Direct set for September 14 at 7:00 a.m. PT / 10:00 a.m. ET

As far as fzero, didn't someone at Nintendo state in the past year or so that Nintendo would only make a new Fzero if they came up with a new gameplay gimmick for it. Granted that's an extremely dumb excuse for not making another Fzero game, but that means there is clearly not an Fzero even in planning stages yet alone deep in development or near release. Nintendo clearly has no current plans to make another Fzero.

That said, between FzeroX being on NSO (and the game still plays fantastic!) and Fzero99 we at least have some fun Fzero stuff to play on Switch. I'm hoping next gen GC gets added to NSO Expansion Pack and we get FzeroGX on there in a few years. Who knows, maybe by like 2030 Nintendo will actually decide to make a new Fzero game lol

And good to see they are occasionally adding even more value to NSO beyond just the retro games, the retro games make the membership well worth the price but extra value is always nice! It sucks that Pacman99 is about to be removed, and really dumb they randomly took Mario35 down after a few months, but at least there is still Fzero99 now and Tetris99.

Whole lotta Mario in the Switch’s final year.

Trailers I liked:
• Another Code R
• Hundred Heroes (spiritual successor to the original Suikoden games)
• Mario RPG mechanic changes outlined
• F-Zero 99
• WarioWare
• Contra

Other trailers I checked out because they looked interesting, but didn’t grab me:
• Eastward Octopia
• Mario vs Donkey Kong
• Princess Peach game
• SaGa: Emerald something

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Nah don’t change goalposts, show me where I implied Electroplankton & Pokémon are equal releases. You said they see a drop in output and that’s just not true, you don’t get to pick and choose what games count towards their output. Even if you eliminate smaller games like Electroplankton, they still had a hell of an overall lineup every year.

Your next paragraph is presented as an argument but actually supports what I’m saying. Switch 2 in mid-late November 2024 is 18 months after TotK and 13 months after Wonder, leaving an entire year of small-medium releases. That lines up exactly with what you’re saying.

It’s nonsense to think they would delay those games 1-1.5 years for Switch 2 or that their sales would be impacted since Switch will most likely be backwards compatible and Nintendo could very well release updated ports of both those games.

They literally unified their handheld and console divisions so they could have a steady stream of games every year and have smooth transitions between generations.

Actually, after seeing this Direct, I think you're right.  Switch 2 will release either holiday 2024 or early 2025.  They didn't tease anything big like they normally do.

I’m glad to see you come around!

Wait, they announced a new Mystery Dungeon in the japanese direct and didn't mention it in the western one??

You know it deserves the GOTY.

They announced some Among Us stuff in the western one, whereas the Japanese Direct included Mystery Dungeon and some others like Stray Children.

I don't get why Pac-Man 99 is shutting down, and F-Zero 99 still feels like an insult.

We know who to blame

Huuuh ...

You know, I won't grade it as usual but, I actually preferred this one over the first Direct of 2023.
It just had more titles to grab my attention over and I know some peeps are gonna act all reactionary like but I think factually, the 2024 H1 line up is more packed than 2023 which had FE Engage and Zelda TOTK basically.

My main positive :

- Another Code Recollection, pretty sweet moment since I heard some folks speak of it as a hidden Wii gem. Could grab a new audience hopefully. I'm in personally.

- New SaGa game !!

- Elyuden Chronicles, remember when they said running the game on Switch would be really tough ? Welp, seems like they pulled it off

- The new Vanillaware game looks like a Fire Emblem on steroids lol

- Princess Peach Showtime ! Easily the biggest moment of the Direct. The Adventure/Puzzle/Action variety kind of gameplay seems to suit the setting well. I'm gonna say early on that this game will prolly sell more than 5M copies !

- The Paper Mario Thousand Year Door remake/remaster looks real shiny and cool for the OG fans who couldn't stop shouting about it on everyone's roof xD

- The final MK8DX booster pack wave has 4 characters in it, including my boi Diddy Kong !!

Surprisingly... no Kirby here 😔

Have watched people react to the Direct on Youtube and that Mario vs DK game is growing on me. lol

It was the DS version I played where you had to guide those shitty mini Marios around. This seems more like the original DK arcade game or DK94.
