Now now... Metroid Prime Remastered was eventually released, so another release of The Wind Waker is bound to happen during the 2020s.

(We'll find out tomorrow.)

It makes no business sense to launch a new system soon.  They are making a ton of money right now and releasing multiple big titles.  If they were about to release a new system, then they'd be behaving differently.

Nah don’t change goalposts, show me where I implied Electroplankton & Pokémon are equal releases. You said they see a drop in output and that’s just not true, you don’t get to pick and choose what games count towards their output. Even if you eliminate smaller games like Electroplankton, they still had a hell of an overall lineup every year.

Your next paragraph is presented as an argument but actually supports what I’m saying. Switch 2 in mid-late November 2024 is 18 months after TotK and 13 months after Wonder, leaving an entire year of small-medium releases. That lines up exactly with what you’re saying.

It’s nonsense to think they would delay those games 1-1.5 years for Switch 2 or that their sales would be impacted since Switch will most likely be backwards compatible and Nintendo could very well release updated ports of both those games.

They literally unified their handheld and console divisions so they could have a steady stream of games every year and have smooth transitions between generations.

Actually, after seeing this Direct, I think you're right.  Switch 2 will release either holiday 2024 or early 2025.  They didn't tease anything big like they normally do.

Well this Direct is certainly proof that a new Nintendo console is coming sooner rather than later. Still some nice updates on games. The Princess Peach game looked decent. A new Contra game by WayForward is exciting. And a remake of the best Paper Mario is great.

Mario VS DK looks shitty, but that was to be expected. F-Zero 99 made me laugh. I feel for F-Zero fans, but that was just funny.

If they havent change the tank controls of the Tomb Raider games, then who outside of hardcore fans will get that?

Overall it was one of the weirder NDs. Not bad, just ok.

Tomb Raider was a surprise, all these years later Nintendo is going to get all of the PS1 games that skipped out on the N64. Paper Mario TTYD made the direct, very excited to pick that up. F Zero wasn't the F Zero we had hoped for, but it's still pretty great. All of the 99 titles have been a lot of fun. Hopefully it sparks interest in the game, and we can get a new one.
