They'll only care if it effects their bottom line which is why I'm not buying anything from them directly for the rest of this fiscal year

>“At this point in time, we are not seeing any impact on our business. But going forward, about the content sales, a large part is already digitised. And therefore, as a result of the discontinuation of discs, we don't see that there will be any negative impact on our business. However, as I already said, the users, the players have attachments, and we have to think about how to respond to that feedback.”

>And so when we think about the future—and we put in a lot of thought and time, and we cautiously considered this—and we came to this conclusion, and we’re going to cautiously move this forward.

So basically as expected.

Sony isn't going to care unless they see actual meaningful backlash.

They're not going to care if people turn off their systems for a week. Turn off your systems for a month or two. Don't update your PS+ subscription.

PS1   - ! - We must build a console that can alert our enemies.

PS2  - @- We must build a console that offers online living room gaming.

PS3   - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.

PS4   - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.

PRO  -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.

PS5   - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.

PRO  -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.

Cancelling PS+ and stopping the purchase of add-on content like in-game currency etc. should be the main drivers of protest.

Such a "Blackout" protest should be at least a full quarter, so it shows up in the quarterly results in a harsh decline of "active users" and "active subscriptions" and revenue.

A "One week blackout" is a total joke.

I mean they have 125m MAU's. Even if they got a million people to boycott PS it's barely a drop lol.

A harsh decline is never going to happen.

It doesn't have to be a "harsh decline" it just has to be appreciable.

They're doing this because they think the higher margins will make it worth it, even if they lose some customers.

Losing a million customers with nothing to show for it would be a bigger deal.

Losing a million customers, but getting 30% better margins on the others, is totally okay though.

This could have all been prevented if people just bought physical over digital. Sadly that's not the case

Blame ball and gun gamers, and those who are too lazy to change discs.

Only just learned that NTSC PS2 games have full art on the spines. So weird to me as the plain white with black text PAL design is such a big part of PS2's identity in my head lol.
