Essentially Bungie management blew any profits Destiny made on larger offices, luxury lifestyles, and unnecessary projects instead of allocating funds to the very thing that made them the money to begin with.

and for you what were those unnecessary projects? I'm actually asking this isn't a debate lol.

The Marathon situation isn't good so I would get if you see it as unnecessary. The spinoff was a good idea but it was clearly too late. Destiny 3 wasn't even a thing and the MOBA, well a 40 person team inside a 1600 person company doesn't sound like something that can move the balance for either way lol.

No, I wouldn't view Marathon as unnecessary per se because it is a good idea to have at least another game rather than putting all your eggs in one basket for as long as they did. I'm not specifically referring to a single incubation project Bungie had, but rather the multitude that they had simultaneously.

As far as known projects, there was Matter, the rebooted Matter after the initial cancellation, Payback, and as mentioned, Gummy Bears. But after the 2024 layoffs, it was discovered that there were even MORE unnamed incubation projects. So much so that Pete Parsons publicly acknowledged that they became "overly ambitious" with how many incubation projects they were working on at the same time, and because of that, they became "too thin, too quickly."

As a result, the Destiny team was begging for more resources, the studio's only money maker at the time, which they never got.

So it's insane to see that while Destiny wasn't bringing in copious amounts of profits, what profits they did have, Bungie management couldn't help but mismanage it lol.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Deserves it's own thread of course but for now

"Physical disc production ending in January 2028 for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles "

Yes.

Playstation just announced its death.

Literally the greediest decision I've seen, breaking profit records year after year and now wanting to have full control over how you buy and how much you pay for all your games.

PS blog post has nearly 2300 comments already.

Just in the US blog.

Clearly a very unpopular decision. But gamers asked for it, right, Sony?

PS6 going to be £1000 digital only with 8GB of ram and 256GB of storage 😂

Ride The Chariot | ‘26 Completed

I'm not buying anything on my Playstation anymore, it will be to replay older games only

I don't plan on upgrading to PS6. Smaller and mid sized games I'll get on Switch 2

Multiplayer and games that play better with mouse and keyboard I was already buying on Steam, now my AAA will be there as well
