Not really, but a lot of us dont trust any publisher with our digital games. The only thing we do have trust in is a disc or card with a complete game on it. Now that will be taken away from us and its frustrating and very disappointing. We like owning our games physically. It makes us feel like we really own them. It makes us feel like we have proof that we are fans of these games. Maybe its more the older gamers who feel like this, but still, fewer options is never a good thing in this industry.  

That and also, we're talking about a medium that has been central to gaming for over 50 years. When you grew up with something like that, the mind can't easily let that go.

For many of us, they're more than just a physical copy. It's years of memories created around them. We still remember going to midnight game launches with other gamers and the excitement of going into the store and physically holding the game you've waited months for. The extra goodies we used to get with our physical copy. It was all part of the experience. It's so much more than just physical vs digital.

I see... I don't have this kind of philosophy with games. And I don't have any place left on my house so I don't want physical games. It's faster to have everything on an account.

Thats fair enough. I dont have it with music. We all have our preferences.

THIS is what it was all about! I had a very similar experience, and it's crazy to think times like these are a thing of the past.

Me too with music. I only use spotify.

Ask someone buying a PS4 now to play Driveclub, without a disc that game doesn't even exist anymore.

Your post cover a good part of it, but it's also even more than just some older people not wanting to move on with the times.

Would we still have the PS2 version of Resident Evil 4, that most of us played, now that it has a remake? You see games getting delisted from Steam when newer versions come for example, you can't play that game how it was anymore, you'll have to buy the new version.

So we can, and will, entirely lose games when they are delisted, or sometimes lose the original versions of them while companies only sell us the new version, you like it or not.

And a week ago Sony announced taking away over 500 movies from people that bought them digitally, it'll happens to games too, it's just a matter of time.

We also lose the ability to sell games to buy others or to buy stuff you might need, like any physical thing it holds value and it can always benefit you.

Losing physical media is nearly 100% bad, it'll be bad for Sony on revenue in shot term as well, but they don't care because holding control over it is eventually much, much better for them. No more used games being sold means every sale has to go through them and nobody can find a deal not approved by a company anymore either.

The only benefit is less stuff to polute the planet with, but that's pale in comparison to how AI affects the world for example, so not even that is justifiable.

Someone being fine with digital games is completely ok, everyone has their own needs and prefferences, but losing physical media is a major lose to consumer power over corporations, they win in everything and by doing so we as costumers have less and less power to fight back without disrupting the entire industry.

It's really, really bad news all around.

Even people that are 100% digital only will be affected by it, giving all the saying to companies will innevitably results in a way worse industry overall.

Sony testing dynamic pricing throughout this year is also something I'm not looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

Also, Sony better revamp the security of PSN ASAP. As well as refund policies.

Dynamic price was 100% aimed at the decision announced today.

Not only will digital be fully in their control as the only option, but they also control who gets what kind of discounts individually both for people and games.

At this point a class action lawsuit can't come soon enough, this much control over everything can't be legal.
