Forums - Sony - PlayStation |OT| Playing Astro Bot on the Horizon Until Dawn

The way Sony unveiled the next mainline GOW with a 20 minute demo was impeccable. I can't stop myself from rewatching it, and other reactors reacting to it, in all its glory.

Everything about Laufey pops. The fluid move set, impactful combat, mysterious narrative, with a combination of different mythologies thrown in, my hype is through the roof. This has GoTG potential written all over it. I can already see Phranque becoming a fan favorite lol.

Pretty much this. I was initially sceptical whether I would care to play as Faye, but they sole the idea well.

I was already onboard moving on from Kratos to other characters, and am disappointed the Atreus game was cancelled. But playing as Faye looks fun. So I'm entirely in. Most anticipated game alongside Intergalactic and Until Dawn 2.

Wolverine confirmed to be linear.

“I can say we did not set out to make an open world game or a sandbox game. What we really wanted was a high-octane, high intrigue, linear single-player adventure, and the missions reflect that in their structure”

Which I’m happy with this, tired of everything needing to be some big open world. They also confirmed you can turn the blood off if that was a concern to some.

God of War Ragnarok is currently my favorite PS5 game, I dunno if Laufey will be able to fight for it or not, but I'm definitely looking foward to see it try.

I really wonder why not give it a release windown, it definitely feels like a 2027 game, they already showed quite a lot of great models, combat mechanics in action that already seem quite refined. Why would they not give it even a release year?

I don't know what the rumours are but I wouldn't go by a demo to judge how close to release a game is.

My instinct is that theres no release year because 2027 isn't guaranteed.

Beyond finalising it's own development if Intergalactic is ends up being a fall 2027 title and this is also supposed to be a fall title, I think Sony would change this games window to Q1 2028 and the team would low-key rejoice for a extra bit of polish and a little less crunch.

Personally hoping Intergalactic is Summer and GOW November.

Also happy that but I do hope it has some more meaty gameplay out of combat, I think that will be the deciding factor of whether it's a day or or something I get further down the line.

He wasn't the game director for Ragnarok either, but the creative director. Now he his "Head of Creative" for the series.

Yeah, at the time I thought he was working on a side project which would go on to become a new IP. Not sure where I heard that... CD is of course a full time role, so makes sense I guess that this just where he preferred to sit.

It seems he may have been the game director for a while at least. Mentioned in this interview, before she took over as director in April 2022, she rejoined the studio as a writer in July 2021. The game was already being worked on back then, presumably with Cory in charge.

Maybe there's an actual smaller trailer for SGF that is a date reveal trailer. Cause, why not?

Damn, got me a bit emotional. Truly feels like the end. At least it's going out with a bang!

Possible. TBH after seeing the full extent of the features and interview (like 1hour of total marketing material out there lol), it's just clicked that is probably coming sooner rather than later.  I have a feeling they may wait til after Wolverine to drop the bomb of how soon it's releasing though, we'll see...

Waiting for Wolwerine to release to then open preorders for God of War (while announcing the date) makes sense.

I do hope if both God of War and Intergalactic 2027 as it was rumored, at least there is a decent gap between both.

Got the platinum for Saros today.

The gameplay is really, really good. I had a lot more fun playing it than I antecipated.

I struggled a bit until I was able to beat the first boss, but having to fight it multiple times made me get a lot better on it.

I did not struggle again until the last boss, I was barely defeated once by the second boss but beat it the second time, beat all other bosses at the first try, until the last boss, which I nearly beat the first two tries but started making lots of mistakes and had to get back to it later with a fresh mind. By the time I platined it today I was able to beat it 3 times in a row.

I really enjoyed making runs from the first biome until the last biome, it makes you a lot stronger but it is a good 2 to 3 hours run and beating it while doing an all nightmare strands without using a second chance feels like the best way to play the game. Some bosses are also so cool, it's really a joy doing those runs.

I also got all weapons and mostly all foes to 100% in the database, it just gives a bit of lore but constantly swaping into guns that are not that good to raise those % makes you really learn how to play all of them at least somewhat better, by the end of the game there was pretty much no gun I wouldn't feel at least ok using, except to face the two last bosses lol.

The story is a bit of a mix, the main crew from the begging of the game is really mostly just meh, and even the story of Arjun is kinda ok at best, but the lore from what happened before you got there and working on the database to piece it together is actually very good, way more interesting than the story the game tells if you simply just beat it, specially if you don't do the mini post game. They really should have properly showcased more of the past events, it's nice to piece it yourself but when the on going story is not that great, you'll have a revelation when you beat it, but it's pretty easy to just miss some good lore. I still have a text log I didn't find and a few voice logs I guess are tied to replaying more of some biomes, specially one of them, because I crossed them a few times and the game still didn't put them there for me to find.

The gameplay alone is more than enough to recommend this game, it's really such a fun game to sit down and play for 2 to 3 hours. It actually reminded me from the original Risk of Rain, where sitting down to do a few runs would keep getting better.

For the story, I would say it's really not a must tho, but I do think it is a game way more focused on gameplay to begin with, so it knows it audience.
