Yeah, at the time I thought he was working on a side project which would go on to become a new IP. Not sure where I heard that... CD is of course a full time role, so makes sense I guess that this just where he preferred to sit.

It seems he may have been the game director for a while at least. Mentioned in this interview, before she took over as director in April 2022, she rejoined the studio as a writer in July 2021. The game was already being worked on back then, presumably with Cory in charge.
