Liking what I'm seeing so far. I should be getting invited to the next closed beta, so I'll see how different the game is now but some very welcome additions here! I'm not entirely buying everything that is being promised in the ViDoc because Bungie has never missed on ViDoc's, but they have missed on things they promise in them whether completely missing or half-baked. Having a few OG Halo devs be the first people you see talking is pretty funny though lol. Can only assume that's meant to be an assurance booster.

$40 price tag confirmation.

The irony of the lore being about greedy corporations and how those corporations are looking to recoup from their investments is certainly not lost on me lol.

For 40 it'll likely be DOA.

Seems like they're just price-matching what the rest of the Extraction Shooter genre goes for. Arc Raiders being the success that it is at $40 is both the best/worst thing to happen to Marathon.

Best in terms of it's allowed the extraction shooter genre to go a little into the mainstream, so there will be even more eyes on a new release in the genre, and with a name like Bungie behind it, should bring even more initial interest.

Worst in terms of pretty much everyone that plays in the genre is currently playing Arc Raiders lol. Even Tarkov is struggling. So if Marathon is not anywhere near as good as they're presenting it, those players will just go back to Arc Raiders.

These cookies fired me up. Can't wait to see more about Intergalactic.

Hopefully got everyone right.

Sadly they can't use Crash on this kind of stuff =/

Anyway, any clue what those red and green sticks separated by the bigger one? Maybe from Intergalactic?

We have Jordan sword and spaceship on 2 cardinal points, plus that chandelier and this strange cookier on the other 2 cardinal points, maybe it's a cult-like representation?

Regardless of how good or not this game turns to be, it'll carry the Concord mark with it, at least during the first months reception. Putting it behind a $40 paywall will surely bring even more insecurity during launch.

I dunno what they could have done, but if it fails early on like Concord, even if not in the same level of failure, it'll fully consolidate a lot of people perception that Sony multiplayer = failure (even as Helldivers 2 is a massive success) and this will snowball out of control.

Being free to play would certianly be a no way back situation too, but I guess they could make it really cheaper for the first 6 months to see if they can bring an audience and plan ahead from that.

Everytime I read about this game it feels like a big failure in the making, even if it turns out to be a decent game, which Concord actually sounded like it was too.

Phantom Blade seems great! I'm currently playing Where Winds Meet, a fantastic game that feels like a mix of Souls/Sekiro, Breath of the Wild, FF14, and a bit of Tomb Raider wrapped with Wuxia and Chinese culture goodness... and HEAPS of bugs/glitches...

China and Korea to an extent are adding a lot to the industry, but it's unfortunate that they lack diversity. They're primarily Souls-like, blade action, and Genshin Impact like, most of them gacha at that. This is contributing to the current trend.

As somebody who hasn’t even played any of these games centered around a samurai protag (e.g. Ghost of Tsushima/Yotēi, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Phantom Blade Zero, Rise of Ronin, Sekiro), I must confess that I am getting very fatigued on this style of gameplay. Phantom Blade Zero, for instance, looks like an incredibly fun game!… but I feel like I’ve seen like five or six games that look just like it, having already done a good enough job.

Honestly, I won't complain about this. Before Nioh came out, I had been waiting for ages for a high quality samurai/medieval East Asia themed game. As a fan of Tenchu and Onimusha, I dearly missed this vibe and am happy to see it return.

And even if these games have similar-ish settings (ignoring that Japan and China are distinct countries/cultures), they don't really play or even feel the same. More differences to be found among them than Mario vs Kirby or Astro Bot, mechanically and thematically. Do yourself a huge favor and play Sekiro :)

Pretty sure 'Ellie 2' is Chloe Frazer, the 'chandelier' is a Hanukkah menorah, and the 'red and green sticks' are Kwanzaa candles.

I strongly disagree with that comparison between Mario v Kirby v Astro… but that’s besides the point lol. One day, I will plays a FromSoft game from start to finish. Literally every single one looks like a blast to play. Maybe once Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition or Bloodborne 60FPS drops, then I’ll take the opportunity.

This.

I like that they included Chloe giving her the respect she deserves as the protagonist of her own game. Fingers crossed we get more Uncharted in the future lol.

Oh, I so wish we had this problem with quality 3D platforming games lol. Been wanting something on PS5 since Astro... But will get Donkey Kong on my S2

Yeah, it's Chloe, Ellie didn't use a red shirt on TLoU2, I concluded it was her as all other chars are close to someone else in the series (I even wrote each series in a different color as you can see), and she is close to the clicker, and Drake and Sully are on the opposite side.

But the red shirt for the adult woman cookie and the strand hair falling over her face pretty much makes me think you are right.

Thanks for the info about the Kwanzas cookie.
