Phantom Blade seems great! I'm currently playing Where Winds Meet, a fantastic game that feels like a mix of Souls/Sekiro, Breath of the Wild, FF14, and a bit of Tomb Raider wrapped with Wuxia and Chinese culture goodness... and HEAPS of bugs/glitches...

China and Korea to an extent are adding a lot to the industry, but it's unfortunate that they lack diversity. They're primarily Souls-like, blade action, and Genshin Impact like, most of them gacha at that. This is contributing to the current trend.

As somebody who hasn’t even played any of these games centered around a samurai protag (e.g. Ghost of Tsushima/Yotēi, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Phantom Blade Zero, Rise of Ronin, Sekiro), I must confess that I am getting very fatigued on this style of gameplay. Phantom Blade Zero, for instance, looks like an incredibly fun game!… but I feel like I’ve seen like five or six games that look just like it, having already done a good enough job.

Honestly, I won't complain about this. Before Nioh came out, I had been waiting for ages for a high quality samurai/medieval East Asia themed game. As a fan of Tenchu and Onimusha, I dearly missed this vibe and am happy to see it return.

And even if these games have similar-ish settings (ignoring that Japan and China are distinct countries/cultures), they don't really play or even feel the same. More differences to be found among them than Mario vs Kirby or Astro Bot, mechanically and thematically. Do yourself a huge favor and play Sekiro :)
