I didn't want to know any more about the game, just a name and a date.

Definitely a fan of this trailer.

Come on, we got 2 amazing trailers for BOTW way before launch. Still only have the best one from several years ago for number 2. "I'm happy for it not being a good trailer" is a weird take.

I watched the BOTW trailer every week for a year lol in comparison. No hype yet for BOTW 2.

Yeah because black people didn't enslave white people for hundreds of years (or at all) lol

It has very obvious negative racial imagery that match up with what is one of the worst abuses of humanity in history. There is something very wrong with it. Yes it's just optics, I'm sure the people who came up with this didn't mean anything racist by it, but the fact that they didn't realize how bad this looks means they weren't thinking clearly. People see racism when the optics of something shouts racism! As this immediately does.

They were thinking clearly. They werent thinking in colors. Which is what we all should strive for.

How can you make this statement with a straight face? They weren’t thinking in colors? How not? Black vs white PlayStation. Black vs white person. That’s literally what they were doing.

Anyway, this conversation has nothing to do with the new Zelda trailer and I regret that my original comment spawned this path, but that’s just the world we live in today.

On topic:

I’m guessing the next glimpse we’ll see of this title is the February Direct followed by (and I really hope this doesn’t happen) a dedicated Tears of the Kingdom Direct. For those who are complaining that these trailers aren’t showing enough, I’m in the opposite camp that’d rather just go into the experience as blind as possible.

The woman represent a white PSP and the man represent a black PSP. Thats all. If you are offended by that poster, then you must believe the creators of it intended for it to have some racist statement behind it. Which you seem to think they didnt have. I also thought of the racist angle when I saw it obviously, because as you said, its the world we live in.

Can we stop the silly discussion about the PSP. Thanks.

Zelda Trailer was a disappointment (go watch the one from a year ago instead, get that feeling!).

Meanwhile Octopath Traveler 2 was by far the stand out of the show. Go watch the PC/PS5/Switch trailer they released separately. So good!

The world looks insanely big. Its like BOTW, but also islands in the sky and underground areas.

I'm kind of torn on this. On one hand I agree with this, I want to go in as blind as possible. But on the other, I'm too eager to consume everything they would throw at me. I'm both complaining, and not complaining.

Absolutely.  It would be pretty hard to turn my eyes away from a dedicated Direct or a longer trailer.  As much as I hate spoilers, I scour YouTube and websites too much to claim that I'm absolutely against them.  I just hope that whatever is shown is curated well from the perspective that fans still want surprises.

But for many that are saying they just aren't hyped yet because too little has been shown, it might also be that you're just over this version of Zelda and that's fine as well. It isn't very common that we get two Zeldas back to back that use the same engine/graphical style.  It may have even been a misstep on the part of Nintendo to try to make this sequel.  But I have faith in Aunoma and his team that they are making something that will feel new all over again.  From the amount of time they have worked on this title it's obvious they didn't just rip some chucks out of the ground, suspend them in the sky and give you a few new abilities.  There are secrets to find, new systems to learn, new nooks and crannies to explore, and who knows what will replace korok seeds and shrines.  I don't want those answers yet.

I guess 1:03 to 1:08 confirms that they'll reuse the overworld from Breath of the Wild, so I wonder why this game took ages to develop. I can only hope for vast areas in the sky and potentially an underworld.

There are probably more tweaks than we think, and that's what I'm hoping for. If it's very same-y in the assets department, even a global pandemic doesn't seem like enough reason for the game to take 6 years.

I'll believe the May 12 release date when it happens. Would not put it past Nintendo to delay the game until Summer or early Autumn. A holiday season release isn't even highly unlikely. 2024 is very unlikely at this point, but still, I would say about a 5% chance.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

Just a few thoughts on the name:

I'm wondering if there is a triple entendre here. Tears for the sadness that will obviously overtake Hyrule as Zelda is missing and whatever else calamity exists. Tears (as in paper tears) of the original Hyrule as its torn apart. And finally, tiers, as in multiple levels you'll be playing on, from the confirmed ground and sky to the unconfirmed but assumed underground sections.

I also wonder if we'll be collecting tears not just from various dungeons or shrines but from village folk. I could see part of the game doing various quests for and with certain villagers to retrieve their tears. This could mean overcoming personal tragedies or greater societal woes that each of them face.

Whether any of this is true, I'm just excited to see a firm release date. I don't anticipate, barring a global catastrophe, that this game will be delayed again. We are a go for May 12th.

Also, in regards to the TikTok marketing ploy, when I searcher for Zelda Tok and ZeldaTotK it returned Zelda Tic Toc videos. That's possibly a marketing backfire.

Not as badly as this did.

What on earth?! Who came up with this? I'm cringing so hard. Oh god.

I've got a bad feeling about this game. Both this trailer and the previous one make me think of Skyward Sword when I see them. I am not optimistic about how this one will turn out.
