...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

Lowest week for the Switch this year at just over 50k. Demon Slayer Switch is already ahead of Demon Slayer PS4 launch aligned.

It looks like Sony is more interested in pushing systems to EU and NA than JP. And for good reason, those territories have a greater potential to sell to where as JP is locked up in Nintendo's pocket. They will still sell there but they cant ignore the two biggest regions for gaming right now. If they do then XB would gain traction (like it is doing in NA). So... XB is gaining slow traction in JP as a result.

Yup, they want to prioritize the US and Europe. In the US they are neck and neck and Xbox will Likely pass them soon. It would be harder to recover in the US because is a market that is more receptive to Xbox. look at this:

Vs. Xbox Series X|S Vs. Switch US:

  1. PS5: 7,445,109
  2. XSX|S: 7,383,775
  3. Switch: 7,132,220

If switch continues this downward trend (as it has been since the start of the year till now) it won't reach the gameboy or DS japan total numbers.

Curious to why disgaea 6 on switch didn't get a complete edition in Japan alongside the ps4 version
The standard edition released day and date with the switch version over there if I remember.

I know the game is coming west on playstation for the first time so they are trying to sweeten the deal but I still wonder why the switch isn't getting it as well

Maybe Disgaea 6 on Switch didn't sell that well to warrant the complete version, while they were more satisfied with Japan sales of Disgaea 6 on PS4.

It is still selling very well even with their system sellers being pushed back. I wouldn't be concerned until it is 20-30k range.

There is no PS4 version of Disgaea 6 Complete (see OP for the list of games released last week) and the Japanese title of the PS5 version is just Makai Senki Disgaea 6. "Complete" is just a marketing buzzword they came up with for the Switch port of Disgaea 5 in the West. Other late ports (especially on Switch) include DLC without being called the Ultimate Edition etc.

Afaik they were satisfied with how it sold. Honestly why release the complete edition on Switch? The game and all the DLC are already there.

No need to make up complicated theories.

A look at the Yen/$ exchange rate for the past few months tells you why selling in Japan << selling everywhere else.

Demon Slayer on Switch looks set to become the highest selling version. What they were smoking when they decided not to release it on Switch from the beginning is anyone's guess.

Seeing Xbox more than double PS5 in Japan is surreal.

Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023.
