I'd give this showcase a 6/10.

Starfield & Pentiment were the highlights to me. I was hoping to get a more raw look at Starfield's gameplay without all the camera cuts. The scope is certainly ambitious, but depending on how populated/dense/interactive the planets are, the massive scope could just make the game feel empty. Pentiment is a great shadow drop for Xbox in 2022. The Riot partnership is huge for GamePass but its not something that is particularly interesting to me. Getting Persona on GamePass is great for Xbox players who haven't experienced it.

This showcase felt bloated with all the updates on announced/revealed games, especially the DLC for FH5, MFS, & Sea of Thieves, or expansions to Fallout 76 & Elder Scrolls Online, which could have been cut for better pacing. I'm extremely disappointed we didn't get any updates on Fable or Avowed. The Kojima partnership didn't even come with a CGI trailer or concept art. What's the point of revealing it? Not many major game announcements overall.

7/10

Not going to lie, I was bored af for half the show, but the other half was pretty good and had a few titles I'm interested in.

It was mentioned before in the empire thread that it will come later because of a new direction. About Banjo, literally every team can make Banjo if they wanted, we saw a third party team that wanted to make battle toads and they.  Just like Killer instinct and other franchises they are open to devs who want to make those games after Yooka Laylee it sadly became clear that many wanted banjo like games but also really don't sadly.

Then why did Super Mario Odyssey take off so well?

Because it is not Banjo,  You want a Banjo game set on different planets and a hat?

There weren't really many games that looked particularly interesting to me other than Silksong. Starfield looked great in the space combat bits, but the on-planet gunplay looked pretty standard and not particularly interesting, and I couldn't care less about the number of planets. The show itself was well put together (as usual for MS) but again, as usual, they just didn't hook me with the games.

Solid show. I like how focused it was on the next 12 months. No lack of gameplay either. Looks like Xbox won't be getting any major AAA for this year which is disappointing. At least early 2023 is packed and will probably the best 1st half Xbox has had in a very long time. Xbox is acting like Blizzard is 1st party now.
Overall, plenty of games I want to play. Opening with Redfall was a great choice. Forza Motorsport looks gorgeous and hands down the best-looking racing game. A Plagues Tale is one the highlights for this year. Never played Diablo franchise but 4 looks good. Likely day 1 on Game Pass once the acquisition finishes. As far as smaller/indie games; Peniment, As Dusk Falls, Benedict, High on Life all caught my interest. Persona games and Kojima announcing a partnership is a nice surprise. Then lastly, Starfield closed the show with a bang. Overall, I would rate it an 8/10.

Happy that they showed games that come in the next 12 months or atleast feels like 90% of the games will make it. Tired of conferences that are full with announcements that are years off. As a Gears players I could be very happy if they showed Gears 6 but if it not release before the end of 2023 or even 2024 their is no point. The fact that all of the games are on gamepass is also huge. No third party filler with games from Ubisoft and others that don't release on gamepass.

4/10. Hardly any of the new games have my interest and most of them are just more first person shooters. We also never saw anything new of Perfect Dark or the Everwild.

Oh yeah: Pentiment, Ravenlok, Cocoon, Benedict Fox, As Dusk Falls, Ara, Minecraft Legends - so many first person shooters! I understand you are disappointed about Banjo, but this is ridiculous.

XBox Fans: "Greatest show on earth, at least 9/10".
Neutral observer (like me): "Where are those billions MS pumped into studios? Seriously, where are they?". - 4/10.

You think I actually LIKE Minecraft? And most of those games didn't even interest me, they just looked so dull.

But that's not what you said. You said most of them FPS, which just isn't true.

I give the show a solid B. I absolutely loved the focus on gameplay and games releasing in the near future, and I am extremely excited for Starfield and Forza Motorsport. I will also be getting the Persona games on my Xbox. Kojima was also a nice surprise. Genre diversity was good and the indies made a strong showing.

Still, no updates on avowed was a bummer. And outside of Obsidian, Turn 10, and some seasonal content updates from Playground and Rare, XGS was a no show. Would have liked to have heard from ID too.
