I have to admit, I'm puzzled where Embracer (formerly Nordic AB, formerly THQ Nordic AB) is pulling their money from, given that just just last year they bought the second largest boardgame publisher Asmodee for 2.75 billion euros.

2.75 billion for a board game? Shessh foot-in-mouthEMbracer doing undercover dirty things or their country is lending them money or something going on?

I think these acquisitions makes Embracer shares more valueable, which they put as security for a credit at the bank to make more acquisitions.

I still can't believe this deal happened. Embracer can make their money back on this deal so easily. If Embracer has a single game sell 10 million copies at $60 a piece, they've literally doubled the amount they spent on all of Square's western divisions. That's how little Square valued it.

Square will start trashing all of their IP's. I'm worried for upcoming Square games that will have no business having NFT's, but will.

Speaking of.

SEK 500m = $50m.

I think the line about breaking even with back catalog is interesting. The known modus operandi for Embracer includes remasters and ports in a lot of cases. So it seems probably, Embracer plans to remaster at least a few of the older titles: Legacy of Kain, Sleeping Dogs, Deus Ex, Thief and so on while porting the newer titles to more platforms. These old games will not make massive numbers, but the ports and remakes should be easily made with low budget and therefore become easily profitable. And as a bonus Embracer can gauge interest in these IPs to decide on possible new entries.

At least now they're with an owner that might actually put some of their games on Switch.

What makes you think Embracer is going to embrace Switch more than SE, a studio that has made Switch exclusive games?

Embracer lives off remasters and ports and Switch is unconquered land regarding Deus Ex and Tomb Raider. Given that Human Revolution was on WiiU, it also should be easily achievable.

The Tomb Raider games should all be doable as well; even with the most recent ones, the 2013 reboot and Rise run on the Xbox 360, and even Shadow is about as demanding as other ambitious Switch ports like Witcher 3, Hellblade, Dying Light, etc.

Yeah, I it looks like the trilogy should be doable. And given this is how Embracer makes profits off their investments, it might happen at least for some of these IPs.

To be fair: We already knew for years that SE is run by morons.

He's doing it for the blockchain. I wonder what his next move will be? There's no telling, He has the face and image of a great business man.

I got a solid chuckle when he blamed those who play video games "to have fun" are the reason why NFT's aren't taking off lol. He wants those who "play to contribute" Dude, I play video games to temporarily escape from the real world. Why the hell would you think I want to bring in those real world things into my escape!?!

I played Tomb Raider 2013 and Rise of the Tomb Raider on 360, but I never got to play Shadow, so if it did get a competent Switch port I'd definitely check it out.

While that is true, there aren't reports from Bloomberg or Jason Schreier, about the Bungie deal being in danger of falling apart.

IIRC, Jason Schreier brought up the challenges of regulatory approval shortly after the Activision buyout was announced. We also didn't have any senators talk about Sony/Bungie with the same scrutiny as Microsoft/Activision Blizzard.

Which is weird, given that MS+Acti/Blizz has still a smaller market share than Sony, so every acquisition Sony makes is actually more important for establishing a monopoly than what MS does.

Well it looks like the FTC is looking into Sony bid to purchase Bungie.  Like I stated, until you get the approvals you never really want to rock the boat.
