See? That's the thing. I found Squid Game to be REALLY good. Certainly a lot better than 90% of the examples of "best TV shows" that you gave back there.

Part of it was really good, part of it was really bad. I watched it in Korean, yet the parts where they speak English are so terribly voice acted it ruins the whole show. They should have just focused on the participants and leave the investor or whatever part out of it. Very inconsistent. A show like Criminal minds was much more interesting imo.

I think you're not putting things into perspective. Cable tv has had about 70 years to build up a great library of shows. It's been less than 10 years since the first original Netflix show released. Within that short time, I think most would agree we've gotten some great content.

I like the jump from Squid Game to Criminal Minds. Not really comparable but okay.

When it comes to sadistic killing scenarios, there are commonalities.

I realize it's mostly the weekly episodic content that I miss. Tbh I don't like binge watching one bit. Yet most stuff on Streaming is made for binge watching. You can of course pace it yourself. Snowpiercer was good. That had a new episode 'airing' each week which makes it imo a lot better than watching multiple episodes in one go or every night.

Anyway, what I miss most is the "What's on tonight" instead of what shall we watch now out of this endless list of options. It feels like we spend more time watching the Netflix menu than actual shows... Plus it was always cool when regular (weekly) shows played in on (local) current events. That's something that simply doesn't work with global streaming. But it is nice to see different cultures. I used to watch foreign movies all the time, now you can watch foreign tv shows as well. Streaming gave me 'Dark', that alone makes it worth it. I doubt that would have ever aired on cable here.

We've established that the "quality ratio" argument is based entirely on your sole opinion and not anything else and since we can't use Critic scores cause reviewers are apparently untrustworthy, it makes this part of the argument a bit pointless to debate, it's my opinion vs yours. We've established that your "scale" argument is simply plain wrong and we've established that the price argument can be applied to Gaming in general.

Gaming and watching Movies/Shows both fall under the entertainment sector, that's a fact.

You keep ignoring that the $1 promotion is for new users only too, even then, it's really irrelevant, the $1 is offered to lure people into the ecosystem, it's a business tactic, it won't remain there forever, also, Xbox still offers the option to outright buy their titles at full price, Lol.

According to this same logic, all of what Netflix, Disney, Amazon, HBO, etc, offer is simply 'fast food' cause they offer them under a cheap subscription. If you think that then fine but don't try to pass it off as fact, it's entirely your opinion.

Returnal (PS5) : Amazon.co.uk: PC & Video Games

From £69.99 to £39.99 in 7 months and it will continue to fall, shave another £10 off and we're officially fast food tier! Maybe we should simply not compare the gaming industry to something as vastly different as the food industry which rarely (if ever) has permanent price drops to their food while all games receive permanent price drops, food is more likely to receive permanent price increases!

Might as well rename Games with Gold and PS Plus to Fast Food with Gold and Fast Food Plus too

No, we've established that we don't need to compare to anything else to make our point be valid and correct. Which makes all my points valid and correct then. I actually kinda like how this works. Very easy. Very convenient. Like, fast food.

Both are consumed, by consumers. Fact. I wonder why SNY, and more recently, MS, have been trying to bring the "cinematic" experience to gaming? I mean, if it's all the same, that experience would automatically be built into it, right?

So GP was never $1 for everybody in the past? As an existing member, you couldn't let your membership expire then renew for $1? You couldn't create a new account and get GP for $1? Do fast food chains expect a new customer will always continue to buy from the dollar menu?

In comparison to theaters, they would all be fast food in this case.

Your earlier point was about games plummeting in price very quickly after launch. I wouldn't call 7 months very quickly, compared to a year. It's also the BF and CM sales period, which doesn't count. Plus, a few others seem to think Returnal is another bad example on your part as in their opinion it's overpriced, and should've been cheaper to begin with. If the prices are subjective, what about the scores?

You said yourself, that some of your own comparisons haven't been great as they haven't been closely and direct related enough, but you'll make an exception for those this time since they help your case, even though you say they're poor examples, like the weak examples you're supposedly trying to disprove? Wasn't something said about certain things not helping?

Fast Food Plus. LOL. You've seen the new "South Park : Post COVID" too have you?

Did I ever say that more palatable/fancy restaurants don't offer cheaper quality lesser meals? No cheap greasy French fries and burgers at either type of establishment? Where are all the $70 XB blockbusters that SNY fans are so salty about due to being must have's or just clearly far surpassing SNY's quality output?

Apparently you have been convinced that price equals quality. I mean, if you truly believe that the fact that Returnal and Ratchet & Clank were released at $70 somehow makes them a more "AAA experience" than FH5 and Flight Simulator then I guess there's not much to say.

Price covers quality, or amount, or both in this case. It can account for more, like brand recognition, but I wasn't taking that into account, since that get's more subjective. That was taken into account with Returnal though, as brand recognition was certainly part of the reason for the $70 price tag. Returnal wasn't my example though. I had also mentioned AAA, AA, and A games prior in the conversation, as not everything is AAA. That point made should've come into account in your reply here, which gives me the impression you haven't been following and are missing necessary context.

Yeah that is another bizarre take. For me it has had the opposite effect, there’s no way I am paying $70 for games that to me are worth maybe half that. It’s an even worse value when you consider what GamePass offers. Why would I pay $70 for Ratchet or Returnal when I can play Wasteland 3, Horizon 5, Halo, Psychonauts, Gears 5/Tactics, etc, all superior games imho, for nothing on top of the subscription.

Bizzare take? I'm not the one who brought up Returnal, which you imply here is a poor example anyway.

Another bizzare take would be why would you ever buy a PS5 if you only want to play "superior" XB exclusives (through GP)?

I also think you need hardware for GP, which costs some amount of money. MS says you don't, as GP is the "full experience", but I'm pretty sure you do.
