That's low for SMTV

With digital it's most likely the series highest opening.

Most likely, but this certainly was the most expensive game in the series to date and, as far as I know, it was decently publicized over there, and yet it didn't seem to reach too many people outside of the core fanbase. They were probably betting on the West (like most JRPGs nowadays), and well, they caught my attention enough to buy two Premium editions, it had a good opening in the UK, so I'm confident the game will end up doing good.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Not gonna lie, I was expecting much more from SMTV.

Hope it does better in the west.

SMTV is pretty poor with the Switch install base taken in account. Maybe Pokemon did have an effect.

Speaking of Pokemon it has to do some heavy lifting compared to Age of Calamity in the next few weeks.

45 139.200 90.517
46 116.267 87.267
47 179.143
48 145.178
49 204.622
50 229.698
51 263.304
52 278.173

PS5 desperately needs stock, and PS4 won't make 9.5m after all.

The game sold through it's stock. Sega should have shipped more: https://www.famitsu.com/ranking/game-sales/

Now that the PS5 is one year old in Japan, does anyone have a chart comparing the first year of the PS4 to the first year of the PS5?

Nintendo better has tons of Switches ready for Pokemon week and later or Team 2021 is over.

Spoiler!
I have the feeling 2020 will end up winning but at least the difference won't be that big if that's the case.

Not bad numbers for SMTV, probably similar to SMTIV when including digital sales, though I guess it was not unreasonable to expect it to do more given the install base. Maybe a higher shipment would've helped but who knows :P

Metroid Dread about to drop the top 30 :/

It is common for JRPGs to ship very low stock, because legs are often nonexistent compared with other genres.

But yes, I think SMTV could use another hefty shipment.

That just makes me feel even more sorry for Blue Reflection.

We've seen in quite a few examples that this doesn't correlate with much growth in Japan but has a much bigger impact in other markets.

Kind of off topic, but this just reminded me how criminal it is that Yokai Watch 4 didn't come to the west. Would of easily been the biggest entry by a huge margin, especially now that its multiplat (Swicth+PS4). Hopefully they're paying attention to the record sales lots of JRPGs are having in the west. Although I'd prefer to play it on PS5, I'd also take Nintendo exclusively publishing it if its the only way to get it over.

I don't know what that mostly black bar means, but I know it looks a lot like the bar next to Ring Fit Adventure.  I'm guessing that it somehow communicates stock left available?
