Forums - Sales Discussion - Famitsu sales: Week 29, 2021 - (July 12 - July 18)

That PS4 decline is much bigger than what anyone thought it would be. The fact the PS4 will sell 1 million less than the PS3 in Japan shows that PS is really declining there. There is no way the PS5 goes above 8 million unless something unexpected happens.

Another thing to keep in mind for Skyward Sword sales is that when it launched on the Wii, it was right in the middle of the holiday season. This is in mid-July.

That, plus being on the Switch in its prime, as opposed to the Wii on its way out, I have every expectation of Skyward Sword HD surpassing the original Wii version. Just like Link's Awakening on the Switch ended up surpassing the original Game Boy version AND is just 570k units away from outselling the Game Boy + GB Color versions COMBINED!!! (I know those are worldwide sales and this is a thread about strictly Japanese sales, but it's still worth mentioning!)

Breath of the Wild and the Switch have truly done wonders for the series! It's popularity has skyrocketed to new heights!

Are the lower sales of the Switch due to waiting for the OLED model or from lack of stock (or both)?

And for the PS5, still supply limited or are the sales variations now natural demand?

On Amazon Japan, the Switch models are being sold for very close to their regular retail prices. The closest they've been in a very long time.

Same goes for Yodobashi Camera

Bic Camera

And Yamada Denki

So, stock is not the issue from the looks of it. Either demand is going down or consumers are holding off for the OLED model.

Nice opening for Shin Chan.
5 of the top 10 are third party Switch games.
Hardware wise underwhelming for all, with the qualified exception of Xbox Series relative to the brand's typically low baseline in Japan.

You need to check your math. This isn't the top 31.

Definitely the japanese gamers are after the Series X and not the Series S. This may be a good sign for Microsoft.

It's not a question of the math, it's me having big fingers, poor motor control, and 9 and 8 being right next to each other. ;)
