It will be very interesting how Monster Hunter Rise does in Asia, especially if Capcom is able to make through the Chinese regulatory body.

this gen might mark the first time that sony actually might struggle to retain relevency in a major market since they started, as it is incresingly clear that if you want to sell your game in japan, you make it for switch.

And if everyone goes to switch/ps5 cross platform, that just makes sure that ps5 can't really leverage the extra power it has going for it. and game devs would also rather use HD textures then put more work into UHD textures, meaning less dev costs and more profit by just dog a straight switch realese. and its not like they'd struggle to get foriegn audiences with the switch either at this point...

Ergo, any japanese dev that doesn't have a game set for realese on the switch by next year is just STUPID

I calculated 3.3m your own "leak" has 3.18m so it's even lower than what I estimated, here is another of your post for reference pushing 3.5m to 4m suggesting closer to 4m:

Level 5 handle our franchise poorly - Professor Layton, Inazuma Eleven, and Yokai Watch go from success to the abyss because of saturation.



Sakuna really has become one of those great little stories of a plucky low budget game achieving big success through strong word of mouth and charm over raw production values. Lucky for them that Nintendo was able to talk them into bringing it to Switch when they didn't originally plan to.

A completely delusional post, something I would expect in Media create threads tbh.

Dev costs are done by hours not by tech. A UE5 game taking 10,000 dev hours costs the same as a UE3 game taking 10,000 dev hours. Engines like UE5/Unity are so feature rich that even Indie devs, or small teams, can make spectacular looking games.

There are also plenty of JP relevant games out on PS4 and SW will never be a universal solution, as even with its almost double install base, titles perform better or on par of PS4. Like Persona Scramble, Atelier, Nocturne HD, Pro Baseball etc

3.18 does not include ME, which includes World. You're easily looking at 3.5 million+ which is exactly what I was predicting.

PS software sales almost bigger than all other platforms combined.

We already saw this with MHW, where PS4 sales (53%) was greater than everything else combined. Its no wonder Capcom and Playstation have gotten very close the past gen: Capcoms entire bottom line relies more on PS than everything else combined.

I'd expect things to be even more skewed to Playstation for Square Enix
