Forums - Sales Discussion - Famitsu Sales: Week 47, 2020 (Nov 16 - Nov 22)

Great sales for Momotaro and also AoC.  Switch sales are good, but I still think they are supply constrained.

It's funny that the Xbox Series X/S will drop down to current 3DS levels shortly after launch.

Great opening for Momotaro and a good one for Age of Calamity.

Xbox Series already on the road to dead, but that's expected, the brand simply has no power in Japan.

Looks like there won't be a legitimate challenger to the Switch in the Land of the Rising Sun until it is replaced by its own successor.

Only 2 PS5 games on the top 30, and combined they only add to 6K. Isn't that worrying? Unless everyone is buying digital.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

  • Konami has moved to the 4th place in the ranking and with Momotaro's legs this will continue to improve for them
  • With the launch of Age of Calamity, Koei has leapfrogged Capcom and Atlus. should end up climbing further with AoC legs and if Atelier 2 does well
  • Bandai will pass 1 million software sales yet again, the funny thing with them is that Fishing Spirits is their best selling game this year
  • The floor is now 63K units, but this will change considerably once we get the updated Top 100 by Famitsu, a lot of titles outside of the Top 30 have been selling a few units since releasing each week so there will be a huge update in their numbers
  • I speculated that the floor for the Top 50 this year will end up above 100K, how high I'm thinking 120K
  • As expected no PlayStation 5 game will be able to make the Top 50 this year
  • Call of Duty: Cold War is looking like the last game from the PS4 to enter the Top 50 but I don't think it will be able to maintain this position

Im pretty sure majority of PS5 owners in Japan are just playing PS4 games. Nothing in their launch lineup seems to have the same impact as Zelda BOTW or even 1 2 Switch lol

Pocky Lover Boy!

Another significant milestone

Human: Fall Flat (Teyon Japan) - 2.265 / 51.872 <80-100%> (+21%)

  • Launched digitally in December 2017
  • Launched physically in June of this year with 5K sales
  • First Western indie title to surpass 50K physical sales on the Switch
  • Expect this one to surpass 100K by the end of the year
  • Huge digital sales as well, its likely the second 3rd Party game to surpass 1 million units shipped+digital

ring fit adventure continues to be one of the nicest surprises, absolutely deserves everything and more

I believe this will be the most interesting comparison in the coming weeks

  • Can Momotaro/New Horizon/Ring Fit match Pokemon Sword/Shield?
  • Will Pikmin and Age of Calamity reach 500K?
  • Is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe going to have it's biggest Q4 performance?
  • Will Pokemon Sword / Shield see big gains due to its DLC this holiday?
  • Are Derby Stallion, Sakuna, Taiko or the Fortnite Bundle going to over-perform and overcome the evergreens?
