Seriously, are my games too hard to guess that nobody gives it a try?

#40: A very unusual RTS in space, where you start with a small capital ship and 3 planets to govern, but the map (and thus the number of planets to govern) and fleet grows at specific points in the story when you reach a new rank.

Hint #1: You start this game with your main planet almost in ruins, with most buildings massively damaged.

Hint #2: The Alien factions make war independently from you, even way before you have even the rank and thus ability to contact them, quite possibly eliminating some races before you ever had the chance to meet them.

Hint #3: Your quarters are on your main capital ship, and you can move around there when not looking at the sector map.

Hint #4: In the end, you're about to build a galactic empire.

Hint #5: The name of the game is in latin

#38: A PC-exclusive Pinball game with a horror theme.

Hint #1: Tables are a haunted Castle, a Dungeon, and Frankenstein's Laboratory, complete with the Monster in it's center.

Hint #2: It's the second game in that specific series, 3 more were to follow.

Hint#3: The predecessor had 3 tables in space, with buildings from Outpost, the successor had Dinosaurs, the next one had a NASCAR theme and the final one a rollercoaster theme.

Hint #4: They also made a Minigolf game with an identical naming scheme, just switching out the Pinball at the end for Minigolf.

Hint #5: The series was published by Sierra On-line

#37: Bring your console-making back from the brink of death by hiring 2 kids and beat your programmers into submission in RPG-like combats.

Hint #1: This game came out shortly before the company making it stopped making consoles for good, making the premise highly ironic.

Hint #2: While most of the game is for the most part an RPG mixed with a tycoon game, the finale goes straight to Shmup, where you have to fight several iterations of Sega consoles.

Hint #3: This Dreamcast title from Sega never left the shores of Japan, but has pretty much all their IP playing some part here.

Hint #4: The evil company you have to beat is called Sigma, and is a clear stand-in for Sony's Playstation. In the game's Universe, Nintendo also existed but had to fold before Sega tried it's last stand in the game.

#32: Hire some Mercs to support a group of rebels to defeat the evil queen of the country.

Hint #1: You can hire your mercenaries from 2 different companies called A.I.M. and M.E.R.C.

Hint #2: Elliot, you Idiot! *slap* *slap*

#30: Capitalism, ho!

Hint #1: You have to pay back the debt accumulated by your father by selling stuff, most of them being adventuring related.

#29: The successor to this game just came out, but the title before that came out over 20 years before this one got released.

Hint #1: The first part of the game plays in a devastated Arizona, followed by a destroyed California.

#28: Wacky races with 2 drivers at once, tagging in and out at will.

40.  Anno 2205?
32. Code Name S.T.E.A.M.?
30.  Moonlighter?

Sadly nobody found this one out, Imperium Galactica was the game I was looking for.

I gave it away because nobody had an idea, Segagaga was what I was looking for

Hint #1: You can hire your mercenaries from 2 different companies called A.I.M. and M.E.R.C.

Hint #2: Elliot, you Idiot! *slap* *slap* Jagged Alliance 2, @Mnementh  was the right Merc for the job

Wasteland 2, @Mnementh can join the Desert Rangers now!

#28: Wacky races with 2 drivers at once, tagging in and out at will. Mario Kart: Double Dash, @UnderwaterFunktown tagged in for the right answer.

Edit: Damn, that was supposed to be an edit, not a quote of myself!

32 had already been found out, but they're all 3 wrong anyway.

Hmm, I remember 2 off the top of my head. I'll try FF7 Remake first.

I suppose I did mention that in the rules, but it's not the kind of reference I mean here.

Ahh, well there goes my other guess as well.

#31 - This game took its series in a much edgier direction due to fan backlash.

#29 - This game had a remake that was a bit infamous for introducing a lot of eyeballs.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)

Change YOY: -2

This is the game where Naughty Dog put all the pieces they had established in the first Uncharted together into a genuinely excellent game. The first game was a fine enough third-person action game with mild puzzle elements, but it took until the second game for them to find the right balance between the various different elements. It also took the setpieces to a whole new level, some of which are still among the most impressive scenes in video games in general.

The gameplay saw drastic improvements over the first game, the puzzles were more interesting, and the balance between them and the shooting sections was vastly superior, visually it was absolutely gorgeous at the time, and with the remastered version the game still looks quite good. Ultimately, it's the characters and their interactions with each other that gives the game, and the series as a whole, its charm and much of its appeal.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Switch)
Change YOY: -2

Tekken has always been my favourite fighting game series, but the one that's the most fun is without question Super Smash Bros, and the latest entry in the series is just a joy to play, especially with friends. Over the years I've quite literally spent thousands of hours with this series, and although Ultimate is one of my least played in the series because I don't own it myself and visiting friends who do isn't as easy as it was when I was a kid, it is the one I've put into my list.

The roster is of course absolutely massive and hugely varied, with almost everyone from earlier games appearing, as well as several new characters making their debut. The game is basically the culmination of the polish the series has gone through over the last 20+ years, honing the gameplay to near-perfection. Most importantly, playing Smash Bros. is just fun, moreso than most other games as far as I'm concerned.

Alright, time for the next set of hints.

#30:

-Many people's favourite place in the game is the giant world

#29:

-The only direction you get at the start is the light at the top of the mountain in the distance

#28:

-A cross-over franchise that really just shouldn't have worked, but somehow did. The second game in the series

#27:

-An RTS about a war between the last vestiges of humanity and an AI called the Core

#26

-A remake of the first part of a beloved game from the '90s

Well, I guess since people have guessed all of the other ones already, might as well get the whole thing over with.

#30 - I've referenced this game in the OP of one of these threads.
Hint 2 - It wasn't exactly a subtle reference. Shouldn't take long to find clicking through the links to the past.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
