Social drinker which means last time I had any alcohol was all the way back in march. Favorite drink is ether Belgian or Dutch style beer, with a Quadrupel being my favorite. My top 2 would be St. Bernardus ABT 12 followed by Ommegang Three Philosophers. Both expensive and probably not going to find it in a restaurant so in those setting I mostly just get something like a Blue Moon since it basically available anywhere.

Back when I was in my early 20's over a decade ago was more of a moderate/heavy drinker and prefer hard liquor whiskey, vodka etc. Those days are long behind me and I no longer have the tolerance I had back then and even moderate drinking these days would mean I not going to want to do anything the next day. It just not worth feeling that way or putting my body through that anymore. I think last time I drank enough to be drunk was about 5 years ago.

Those two sound great. how do they compare to Kwak or Chimay?

Cimay great would actually be a tough call between that and Three Philosophers for me.  My guess most people would probably prefer Cimay but I never had a chance to do a side by side taste test as Cimay really hard to find around me.  I already have to drive a hour away to find ABT 12 or Three Philosophers.  Got a 100 liquor stores within 15min from me but none of them will stock any of the Belgian or Dutch beers I like.

For me personally nothing beats St Bernardus ABT 12.

Kwak I personally was not impress with but Tripel Karmeliet made by same brewery as Kwak is extremely good I thought.

EDIT:  just to be clear I thought Kwak 1000 times better then blue moon or any of the other typical beers I find around me, I just mean compare to the other top beers out there I was not impressed.

Depends, some days in the week I drink nothing, some days just a (heavy) beer (usually La Chouffe) or a (small) glass of whisky and then there are days I just drink three heavy beers on my own. With family I usually drink wine, during Re-enactment events mead (we only drink after all activities, no one should be handling a weapon while intoxicated).
That probably categorizes me as a heavy drinker to most people, but then again I am Belgian.

Sounds good. I'll have to order ABT 12 online, I don't think I've ever seen it on the shelf before but I have heard of it. Ommegang ain't even available to order online, but I trust its good.

Chimay I actually get on a monthly basis. My local stocks the usual Belgian beers.

Good to see some more Belgian beer fans. La Couffe is fantastic.

Same, I've never understood how people can enjoy the taste of it, it tastes like some kind of toxic byproduct from a detergent factory. (Though don't get me wrong I've drunk plenty of it in my time just for the effects)

That may be due to the kind of wine you're drinking.

Usually cheap wine is kind of shit. Not always the case, I've been to all you can drink events before that have had great wine. Had one like that last year and I was drinking it by the pint, ended up pretty messed up But usually if you go to a bar and they don't really deal in wine much (eg. they only have the choice between white/red) then it's probably crappy wine.

Although I'll also say that I have yet to taste a single good red wine. White is just... better. Especially Champagne!

Admittedly when I was a poor University student I used to drink the cheap and nasty stuff, but over the years many friends and family have tried to challenge my aversion with "try this one, you'll like this" but so far it all just tastes gross to me. Maybe there is one out there I'd like but if there is, I have yet to find it in 13 years as a drinker.

I drink many different alcoholic beverages but not to get drunk.

Beer (especially "Helles"), Whisky, Port wine and Gin is what I drink the most. Whisky is an expensive hobby, though...worse than gaming haha

I also drink Federweißer, red wine, Sherry, Cognac, Cider and different Liquors from time to time.

Vodka doesn't give me anything, though. Too bad I have some Russian and Polish friends^^

Don't drink as I am on-call 24/7, 365 days of a year.

I dont know whats classed as occasional, moderate or heavy, but i drink normally once a week, sometimes twice. But when i drink i normally have like 4-8 UK pints then move onto like vodka Coke or something like that. Basically i binge drink.

My hats off to you. I work 8 hours a day and that's a lot for my lazy bum ass, and you do a very heavy job on top of that.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Jagermeister + creaming soda is also damn nice. So is absinthe and lemonade, but be damn careful with that stuff as it's the Tsar Bomba of alcoholic beverages and if you drink too much you'll wake up feeling like you drank drain cleaner.

I wasn't using any technical definitions, more which you would describe yourself as.

For example, I would've called myself a heavy drinker when I was say 21, now I'd say I'm moderate.
