I hope not. I want that game to be build solely for the PS5. |
Tell me about it. That Horizon news was like a kick in the balls too. PS never did this cross gen sh*t before, and then they decide to start doing it, for the first time, a few weeks after going out of their way to say they wouldn't be doing it. Ridiculous.

ps4 will exist for 10 more years,
they still selling like hotcakes!
unless switch pro comes out haha!
Considering that the PS4, Pro, PS5, etc are all basically closed-platform gaming PC's, it makes sense. It will probably take 3 years or so until all games will start requiring more hardware capabilities than what the base PS4 can put out, and ports are pretty trivial at this point.
Persona 5, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Resident Evil Zero was released in 2015 on playstation 3, that's 9 years from the release of playstation 3, i can see the same for playstation 4 and stopgap playstation 4 pro until at least 2022 or 2023, then from 2024 onwards dwinlding to end of lifespan.
PS4 is the new PS2.
God bless You.
My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+
When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

True, although again pointing to poor PR. "We have no plans to further expand our exclusive first party games to other consoles". They said that after Ori 1 game out. So was this unplanned? Did they lie? What changed it to go from unplanned to planned? |
Well, at the time as they said this, porting Ori2 was probably already ongoing. At that point they had no plans to further expand their first party games to other consoles. He only left out, that not all current ongoing plans were revealed already.
So 2023 or 2024 will be when we see games that can ONLY be played on PS5 level hardware? And by then we will be thinking about the PS6, which will I guess be by PS5 hardware for its first 3-4 years, if this tradition continues?
Interesting! I like the mindset of accessibility, that is consumer friendly, but I also understand people's frustration about not getting to see truly next gen experiences until halfway through a console's life cycle.
They’re basically just saying they intend to maintain a level of production for 3 or 4 years, that doesn’t mean anything on how long they actually intend to support the console or how much they will ship in the meantime.
I expect a price cut at the latest next year, but better this year.
