Well than. That is helpful. I clearly missed that. Thank you.

Pleasure.

While on that file, I noticed something wild. The Q1 of 2021 software (red line) is fiercly competing with the Q3 of 2020 (holiday period). Traditionally the spring/summer quarter (Q1) is always the weakest. What happened here due to the Corona virus is significantly helping drive Switch sales and invigorating its momentum.

However notice that the trend started as of Q4, which ends in March, the moment the outbreak started. Which means that it isn't just due to COVID, but it seems like the Switch is really breaking records in and of its own.

Unless there was a study made about the effects of COVID-19 on the video game market, we really cannot conclude that the spike in sales of game consoles was due to the pandemic.  This pandemic caused global economic slump which affected all countries in the world that eventually led to mass lay-off and unemployment, thereby affecting the purchasing power of the people. Affected people who are now cash-strapped would rather allot whatever money they have for necessities and monthly bills rather than luxuries such as game consoles. Thus, I can also say that hardware and software sales would have been much higher if pandemic never happened

Dear Nintendo, seeing the absolute success of the Switch and your current billionary earnings, could you please make me and others happy by releasing some of your hit games that are missing from the Switch lineup?

I'm referring to:
- Metroid (ok, it's in the making!)
- Star Fox Zero Deluxe (enhanced WiiU port)
- F-Zero (co-developed with SEGA)
- Kid Icarus Uprising 2
- Mario 2D

Switch has yet several years on the market, so, I'm counting on you! ;)

Phenomenal hardware and software sales for Switch. The sky is the limit for Nintendo with the Switch.

I am with you that Switch is really breaking records in and of its own

So 9 out of the top 10 Switch sellers have over +10m copies sold. Those numbers are Wii worthy.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Damn, BotW really took it to Pokemon and Odyssey! Come on Smash 20 mil you can do it! ;p

Good god AC! I thought it'd be around 18 million. Its sales must have massively increased in May and June over what it sold in April when we got the number for the first 6 weeks of sales. I guess this is shipped whereas the 6 week figure was sold, but still, way above what it seemed like it would be at by end of quarter. Could it actually move ahead of Mario Kart at some point??

And damn, Xenoblade and Clubhouse had great first month launches, while Ring Fit is showing legs as strong as any of the evergreens.

After seeing these numbers, I've realized that there is 0% chance that the Switch falls short of 100 Million Sold, it's inevitable at this point it's going to sell 100M+ especially with AC:NH becoming viral and a global phenomenon with many non-gamers purchasing a Switch just to play that game, along with how innovative and awesome the Switch's hybrid concept is with Nintendo's other evergreen titles that are selling like crazy to this day like Smash, Mario Kart, Zelda, ECT.. Plus we likely still got 2 more mainline pokemon games down the pipeline and more.

My prediction for the Switch was 113M sold, but now I see the Switch selling 120-130M when all said and done, maybe outselling the PS4, this system since its launched has just blown away every expectation and shut up all the potential naysayers, I believe the Switch's final sales total will blow us all away.

Chance of OutSelling Each System:

NES 61.91M: 100%

3DS: 76M: 100%

PSP: 81M: 100%

Gameboy Advance: 82.5M: 100%

Xbox 360: 85M: 100%

PS3: 87M: 100%

Wii: 101.63M: 95%

PS1 102.5M: 93%

PS4: 112.3M+: 40%

Gameboy: 118.69M: 50%

DS: 154.02M: 10%

PS2: 157M: 8%

Just as a side notice
3DS shipped 100k of hardware in the last quarter

And it shipped 960k of software in the same time.
Nintendo did not even bother to update the software page.

"He's dead Jim"

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo stops manufacturing the 3DS in the coming months. 100,000 in three months is next to nothing.

I still see a lot of 3DS software around in retail stores, though there's barely an actual 3DS on sale anymore. Also, many titles still have no discount, you'd think they'd want to clean up inventory before the next gen consoles launch.

Does NSMBUD look like it will hit 10 million?

well taking all versions the game is a bit above 16 million as you take both mario and luigi u for the wii u and add the 7.44 from mario u deluxe

The only way for Switch to not outsell Wii is Nintendo purposely destroying Switch

With 5.67 mi in Q1 there is no way for Switch selling less than 3 in Q2, less than 8 in Q3 and less than 2 in Q4. And this is the absolutely worst case scenario for each quarter and they alone would lead for a 75 million lifetime sales. Then Switch will need to fail shipping another 25 million until Nintendo cut off its lifecyle and releasing Switch sucessor by as early as 2022 which... makes no sense
