Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Yes the gameplay was a step backwards from Melee with it's more floating mechanics and tripping. Yes, subspace was repetitive as fuck. Yes, the online was a joke.

But man I loved every minute of it. The cutscenes were fap worthy, the music was god tier, the character reveals would make people orgasm. I loved subspace overall, specially in Co-op and would rather have that over WoL and whatever the nonsense we got in SSB4. At home when I am playing by myself or with friends online, I'd play games like Cod and etc but when friends came over, Brawl was always the go to during the wii days. Not to mention the crazy amount of other content it had that later iterations also got rid of for better or for worse.

If Brawl is panned, then put me down as loving it regardless. Brawl got near-universal acclaim from critics. It's tied with Ultimate on Metacritic, and it slightly earned its way to the top of Smash on the defunct GameRankings.

The people who disliked Brawl, or at the very least were disappointed, were a vocal minority. There are some people who consider Brawl's competitive potential better than Smash 4, even if it's not as suited for competitive play as Melee and Ultimate.

By that token. Smash 4 (both versions) is underrated as well. I'm probably in the minority that thinks Smash got better with each installment (excluding the 3DS version of Smash 4).

Not exactly loved and not exactly panned either, but Remember Me and Dragon Age II are both pretty cool for the reception they got from most people.

For me it is Star Ocean 5 Integrity and Faithlessness. SO series was never known for amazing graphics or innovative battle system or some ground-breaking plot, yet this game got all the unneccessary hate, when it has a beautiful world, beautiful cast, great gameplat continuing the tradition of SO4 and so many grinding aspects included for rpg gamers. They accuse the camera or the many things going on in the battle, i am not seeing any huge issue there. No cutscenes they say, there are cutscenes and also the most that are dialogues scenes you can move around, which is more realistic.  Closing, SO5 is a 8/10 game at worst and i have spent 40 hours in it, more than many acclaimed titles. What About you ?

I always loved the Star Ocean series till this one, uninspiring story, bosses, looked like a low budget tales game and the females are either mindlessly or over sexualised like the checkerboard witch.(Female characters can be sexy but it can be done in a more classy way and thirsty teens already have senran kagura if they want ridiculous over the top softporn)

The scope of it all was so so small and i did not have what made the other games good or semi good, gets a 4-5/10 from me.

Previous games always felt like a space adventure and discovering different planets, this game was more about walking back and forth for stupid tasks in mostly the same ugly areas.

END RANT !

But i'm happy you and others liked it so do not take this personal :P

Code Name: STEAM (3DS) was a game that got pretty meh reviews and I think people forgot about it before it was even released, but it was actually a lot of fun. It wasn't perfect, but the gameplay was simple and satisfying and the story was ridiculous enough to keep me interested. Also, I got it for, like, $5 so that probably helped.

I am perpetually angry that this game wasn't more successful. This is why we don't get new IPs.

Mostly there are a bunch of games that get a bum rap because they deviate from their franchise. Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, Super Paper Mario, Kirby's Epic Yarn, and Chrono Cross.  Like those a lot more than their fanbases tended to.

I can't speak for the overall sales but for me, I was excited about the game. I played it. Hated it. It felt like an inferior Valkyria Chronicles. I thought  about picking it up again a couple of years ago when it was cheap but then VC4 came out and turned out to be the best VC game. So yet to try it again. Still might.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Resident Evil 3 (2020)

As far as I can tell, I'm pretty much the only person who loved this game. Yes, I'm a bit upset that we don't get to explore the Clock Tower or Raccoon Park, and I personally think that Capcom made a huge mistake by not giving Carlos his own campaign. On the other hand, the hospital was done much better this time around, Carlos is more awesome than ever, and I really like Tyrell (who was blown up in about 20 seconds in the original). Nicolai is more despicable than ever, Mikhail is more badass, and we finally get to see who bit Marvin Branagh. Unlike most of you, I never liked those fights against Grave Digger, so I really didn't miss him. The fights against the Nemesis are done better here as well, and the dodge move doesn't feel as random as it did in the original.

To name a few:

  • Assassin's Creed Syndicate- Metascore 76, personal score 8.8/10

I loved it too. Assassin's Creed Syndicate is what Unity should have been. Better gameplay, better main quest, better side quests, more interesting characters, and significantly less glitchy upon release.

Sonic and the Black Knight.

After the utter abomination that was Secret Rings, there wasn’t much hope or enthusiasm for this one. And while the game does have issues with being on-rails among other things, I was dumbfounded at how its overall metacritic score is 15 points lower than Secret Rings since I thought it was an improvement over Secret Rings in just about every way. I loved the soundtrack, (If I were a pro wrestler, Knight of the Wind would be my entrance theme), the graphics, the level design was decent, the sword gameplay, while rough around the edges, was pretty good and very satisfying to pull off a chain of sword-based homing attacks and just tear through enemies. And no joke, I think Excalibur Sonic is probably Sonic’s greatest transformation, and the cutscene where he transforms is freaking awesome!
I wouldn’t mind another attempt at a storybook game with Sonic. There are some things they need to fix and flesh out (Get OFF the rails, for instance). But I think there’s plenty of potential still yet to be unlocked with the storybook series.

Sonic and the Black Knight. Yeah, the gameplay is a bit frustrating, but the graphics, the soundtrack and the plot are amazing;

Damn, you beat me to it! xD

Yoshi's New Island
Can appreciate why it gets criticised, but I was just grateful to get another game that I enjoyed in this style after the let down on DS.

Turok Evolution
Had a lot of fun playing this when I was younger (both single and multi), so I look on it quite fondly.

Metroid: Other M, Devil's Third, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, Star Fox Zero (co-op), The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass... I absolutely loved all of these games.
