Forums - Gaming Discussion - Panned Games that you loved?

For me it is Star Ocean 5 Integrity and Faithlessness. SO series was never known for amazing graphics or innovative battle system or some ground-breaking plot, yet this game got all the unneccessary hate, when it has a beautiful world, beautiful cast, great gameplat continuing the tradition of SO4 and so many grinding aspects included for rpg gamers. They accuse the camera or the many things going on in the battle, i am not seeing any huge issue there. No cutscenes they say, there are cutscenes and also the most that are dialogues scenes you can move around, which is more realistic.  Closing, SO5 is a 8/10 game at worst and i have spent 40 hours in it, more than many acclaimed titles. Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Yes the gameplay was a step backwards from Melee with it's more floating mechanics and tripping. Yes, subspace was repetitive as fuck. Yes, the online was a joke.

But man I loved every minute of it. The cutscenes were fap worthy, the music was god tier, the character reveals would make people orgasm. I loved subspace overall, specially in Co-op and would rather have that over WoL and whatever the nonsense we got in SSB4. At home when I am playing by myself or with friends online, I'd play games like Cod and etc but when friends came over, Brawl was always the go to during the wii days. Not to mention the crazy amount of other content it had that later iterations also got rid of for better or for worse.

Devils Third.

If you want to compare movies to games. This is the one. It screams the early 90s straight to VHS B movie action film. It's the Samurai Cop of games. Terrible in all the best ways. It's kinda fun. It's stupid as hell.

This game is aptly rated but it can still be fun from a different perspective.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

The Order:1866

I really love the story, setting and even the gameplay. I wanted to see more after the game ended. Hopefully we'll get a sequel.

Star Fox Zero, I have played that one for over 80h now and I can't understand the complaints. Many say that they hate the control scheme but it's actually superior once you've got the hang of it. Some say it's too short with 2,5h on average but it's a railshooter for crying out loud, that's the point of the entire genre. 2,5h is actually pretty long for a railshooter.

Also, I've enjoyed Devil's Third quite a lot and finished it multiple times by now. It has its flaws no doubt but it's much better than the critics want it to be regarded as.

DMC: Devil May Cry.

Those games are dubious choices. Especially SSBB. DMC has high critic and low user scores on PS3 and XB360, but it scored quite well with critics and users on PC, and also sits at 9/10 on Steam. The PS4 and XBO versions score even higher.

Little Deviants on the Vita. Didn't expect much because of the universal meh response it got, but I ended up really enjoying it.

Yep. Best DMC game.

MediEvil remake. Got 67 on MC but I love it.

Tends to overlap with the 'most underrated' category, no?
