Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Yes the gameplay was a step backwards from Melee with it's more floating mechanics and tripping. Yes, subspace was repetitive as fuck. Yes, the online was a joke.

But man I loved every minute of it. The cutscenes were fap worthy, the music was god tier, the character reveals would make people orgasm. I loved subspace overall, specially in Co-op and would rather have that over WoL and whatever the nonsense we got in SSB4. At home when I am playing by myself or with friends online, I'd play games like Cod and etc but when friends came over, Brawl was always the go to during the wii days. Not to mention the crazy amount of other content it had that later iterations also got rid of for better or for worse.

If Brawl is panned, then put me down as loving it regardless. Brawl got near-universal acclaim from critics. It's tied with Ultimate on Metacritic, and it slightly earned its way to the top of Smash on the defunct GameRankings.

The people who disliked Brawl, or at the very least were disappointed, were a vocal minority. There are some people who consider Brawl's competitive potential better than Smash 4, even if it's not as suited for competitive play as Melee and Ultimate.

By that token. Smash 4 (both versions) is underrated as well. I'm probably in the minority that thinks Smash got better with each installment (excluding the 3DS version of Smash 4).
