Sonic and the Black Knight.

After the utter abomination that was Secret Rings, there wasn’t much hope or enthusiasm for this one. And while the game does have issues with being on-rails among other things, I was dumbfounded at how its overall metacritic score is 15 points lower than Secret Rings since I thought it was an improvement over Secret Rings in just about every way. I loved the soundtrack, (If I were a pro wrestler, Knight of the Wind would be my entrance theme), the graphics, the level design was decent, the sword gameplay, while rough around the edges, was pretty good and very satisfying to pull off a chain of sword-based homing attacks and just tear through enemies. And no joke, I think Excalibur Sonic is probably Sonic’s greatest transformation, and the cutscene where he transforms is freaking awesome!
I wouldn’t mind another attempt at a storybook game with Sonic. There are some things they need to fix and flesh out (Get OFF the rails, for instance). But I think there’s plenty of potential still yet to be unlocked with the storybook series.
