Switch yet again joining the Monster Club. Which no other console joined in the last decade. Never count Nintendo out people.

I was wondering how it stacked up compared to past systems. 530k was giving me Wii/DS flashbacks and sure enough! More specifically, Wii 2008, where it doesn’t seem to matter how much Nintendo can produce, it always sells out of stock. Absolutely incredible!

I'm sure they could have done 600k+, the console is in big shortage rn. Not only that but even some old games have been out of stock.
Their PR saying they will up the production by 30-50% for April to June and think that towards June the demand would go back to normal is insane now. June should be as high as May and July should be pretty good as well with PM.

All that with 1-2 games. The console is just a hot item at this point that software will just add on to that. Also knowing it's doing 20+ millions without price cut in it's 4th year. It's just incredible.

Wow this is absolutely insane to me. May was an incredibly slow month for video game news and i really thought the momentum for the switch went down. Apparently not so much eh. The Switch is still out of stock on amazon in Canada and has been since AC came out.

There is no way at this point 2020 isn't the peak year and i think the switch can shoot in a 20.5/21 millions this year. The lite launch and Pokemon SS won't stop this since the lite didn't even have much impact on sales later on last year and i think a good BF deal can match Pokemon's release.

The new gen will be hella expensive so they won't compete for the same audience no more.

Anyway, incredible performance.

Right now according to vgchartz estimates, switch is on track to do 23mil at least. I do think that if Ninty has the right games for the 2nd half and makes enough consoles, they can do a 25mil this year.

Yea I think so too. I mean the momentum last summer for Switch wasn't amazing so this year won't have any problem to beat it. So I think it will surpass a little Q3 of last year just bc of the lite launch. Q4 will depend on games like you said. But I do think it will keep that momentum high enough till the holidays just cause it's that much in demand right now and kids will ask for it

At this point Nintendo needs to produce/ship as many Switches as they can. It doesn't even matter if the sales boost ends up being over. So many stores are in short supply, so they need to restock at the very least. Whatever they ship will sell eventually, and it is likely that the boost is still going on (and might even get a second wave). Now is the time to ship, ship, ship.

Does anyone have the PS2 and DS 2005 and 2006 monthly NPD numbers?

I have scavenged a couple of months, but mostly cannot find them on here or GAF or through articles.

I got the hook up for you, bro.

Wow, those pre-lite DS numbers are atrocious, , especially March/April 2005, where it only did low XBO, even almost Wii U numbers. Really didn't think it would have done that bad at the time
