Nintendo routinely pads out their release lists with shovelware so they have a very low bar for that.

Trials of Mana is really important for JRPG and Mana fans. The original never made it in the West until last year with the Collection of Mana. It is considered the best Mana game. The remake of Secret of Mana was a letdown and this is a remake of a game that is not only considered the best, but is an actual remake that looks good. Also the demo is really good and shows that this game has promise.

So yes it is a significant release, but it just isn't your taste.

It's not a new game and won't be commercially big, so I still wouldn't call it major by any stretch.

But I'll stop bothering you guys, best if I just avoid posting about this stuff for a bit.

Trials of Mana and Minecraft Dungeons are both slated for April, and they will probably both do pretty good. Minecraft Dungeons is a wildcard though.. who knows.. but it's Minecraft after all..

To call Trials of Mana not significant is just an uninformed opinion. Nintendo gave it a spotlight in their E3 presentation and the direct after that. That makes it significant.

Though, after those two games it's getting really really sparse with dated games.. W101 in May and Fairy Tale in June are the only ones I can come up with and those arent really significant titles. Nintendo should start putting some dates up soon. Very soon.

I guess Sakurai abandoned the fighter pass vol. 2 since nothing he has not announced the upcoming fighters at this point. /s

I don't even know if Nintendo employees from Japan are even permitted to come back yet to their respective offices in Kyoto and Tokyo.
Plus, for the General Directs, usually we see Koizumi or Takahashi presenting with a green screen behind them. I don't think they can do that at home.

And as Sakurai noted, he cannot even show presentations to developers who are part of Fighter Pass Vol. 2. Do you think there's anything different for Nintendo employees to be able to work at their offices or even meet reps from third party developers and their offices?

Hey man, I am sorry.

I know what you're feeling. And I am sure there will be Nintendo news soon but we just have to hold out for the moment. There is still a lot of indie stuff coming out every week. And some 3rd party stuff. And the next 1st party games will come.

My guess is they reworked the Direct several times and moved the date backwards because we live in a bit of a messy time atm.

No need to apologize man, I was just having a moment where all the stress of everything caught up with me and I lost my cool. It's my bad.

Animal Crossing has reached new horizons, bro. When was the last time a machine sold 300K+ units in a week during a non-holiday period in Japan?

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Switch sales next week are gonna crash down to almost nothing, this must have wiped out almost every bit of stock they could muster given the current manufacturing shortages.

Wait what!? I thought it was coming out in the near term, it's not that big of a game either. Is there really nothing there in Japan lined up for the Switch for the next 5 months?

There's nothing significant dated for Switch in any region. They've basically abandoned the platform.

This is ok.

Nintendo had a super busy Q3/Q4 last year and now they're slowing down now. The reality is they will continue selling off old software because they've created the perfect Nintendo box/family entertainment system with a good backlogue of titles for people to visit. There's only so much anyone should expect them alone to deliver.

People who want a wide variety of major releases have the option of the PS4. I've stopped expecting Nintendo to compete in that compartment.

Wow, those were 29 minutes of nothing.

Did the Japanese Direct announce anything else? They usually feature some games not present in the rest of the regions.
