Didn't Canada only have ~2500 new cases yesterday? for a country with like ~38m inhabitants thats not that bad.
That seems like nothing compaired to the 81,000+ that the US had yesterday.

I'm worried about europe..... France/UK/Spain/Italy/belgium...  its grim.

In denmark we hit over 800 cases yesterday (positivity rate like ~1,7%) (tiny country of ~5,8m)
Thankfully its not yet too bad here, but... yeah numbers are climbing, and its apparent they need to do more to restrict spread.
(which thankfully they did, yesterday... so hopefully a week from now numbers are down)

Compared to the US anywhere looks good! Well, maybe not Europe atm, it is indeed concerning. Full update following shortly.

Canada is not that bad yet, however our hospital system is pretty strained normally. We don't really have the capacity for a full on outbreak. For cases we're back to what it was at the peak, luckily for now the older population has still been able to avoid the second wave.

The situation is not exploding, it's not getting better either.

Weekly update. Europe is getting hit hard by the second wave adding to new records world wide.

Worldwide 2.90 million new cases were reported (up from 2.47 million) and 40,082 new deaths (up from 36,404)

Europe is rising sharply, the USA is starting to follow along, both driving up the total cases worldwide.

The continents

Europe is rising sharply, 1.26 million new cases last week (up from 888K) and 10,432 new deaths (up from 7,513)
Asia reported 654.6K new cases last week (down from 704.9K) and 10,820 new deaths (down from 10,882)
North America reported 542.8K new cases last week (up from 469.3K) and 8,883 new deaths (up from 7,841)
South America reported 359.1K new cases last week (up from 336.2K) and 8,312 new deaths (down from 8,489)
Africa reported 74.4K new cases last week (up from 67.9K) and 1,628 new deaths (down from 1,668)
Oceania reported 2,163 new cases last week (up from 1,231) and 7 deaths (down from 11). It's all French Polynesia atm.

Corners of the world

USA rising more, 458.7K new cases last week (up from 393.8K) and 5,640 new deaths (up from 4,996)
India reported 383.0K new cases last week (down from 453.6K) and 4,960 new deaths (down from 5,582)
Brazil reported 154.1K new cases last week (up from 144.4K) and 3,299 new deaths (down from 3,537)
Iran reported 34.5K new cases last week (up from 30.0K) and 2,115 new deaths (up from 1,772)
Canada reported 17.6K new cases last week (up from 16.0K) and 166 new deaths (up from 137)
South Africa reported 12.2K new cases last week (up from 11.9K) and 521 new deaths (down from 823)

Japan, South Korea and Australia remaining stable, although South Korea had a slight uptick at the end of the week.
Australia is doing great, only 1 death reported last week.

Europe in detail

Only Ireland is managing to stave off the second wave, Norway is still the best place to be in Europe.
Deaths are now also rising in Europe, it's time to do something.

Europe's deaths peaked at 4,917 on April 7th, yesterday it was up to 1,980 for a single day.
Europe's cases peaked at 54,487 (outlier) on April 2nd, yesterday it was up to 231,395.

Good job on protecting the vulnerable so far and also much more testing nowadays, yet this is a bad way to enter the winter season.

404k new cases this Sunday. It was 342k last Sunday.

0 cases, 0 deaths in my state in the last 24 hours, for the first time since early June.
We're starting to cautiously ease restrictions; a lot of people are impatient and calling for us to open up completely right away, but I'm glad our state government is being sensible and taking things slow and careful.

USA is gonna go past 9million infections within a day or two... jebus.

COVID situation is terrible in many European countries, population adjusted, they're pretty similar actually to the US.

Not sure why the states are being mocked when many countries in the west aren't doing much better?

Are the states still being mocked? It's just Trump who keeps spreading nonsense.

Adjusted for population for last week numbers
USA: Avg 1398 cases per million per day
Europe: Avg 1705 cases per million per day

Not similar, Europe has already passed the USA in all measures and is growing faster.
The USA is still ahead for total infections but Europe is gaining, the gap is shrinking rapidly.

The U.S. is playing a game of heads they win, tales you lose. Trump could've went silent and hid until closer to the election when he needed to get out and 'shake hands', but we'd all just be hearing that the reason covid was so terrible in the States was because Trump tucked tail, hid, and decided to do nothing, regardless of what he was getting done behind the scenes. Any number of deaths higher than what the last admin had to deal with, regardless of transmission differences, would have been considered unforgivable by the self deemed narrators.

However, with covid, like everything, it's not over until the fat lady sings, or loses the ability to.

Well, that is absolutely horrible

It's less mocking the US and more Trumps reaction to Covid and the ludicrous things he's saying and spreading about it.

As for the number of cases, Europe got it's cases down to low numbers after their first peak while the US always stayed high, which is one of the main reason as to why Trump's response was getting mocked so much. The 7-day moving average hasn't dropped below 35k cases a day since June when Europe as a whole got less than 5K a day, and less than 2K without Russia. The US are at the beginning of another peak while Europe is starting to peak or even past it in some countries, so it's quite possible that in a couple weeks the US will look worse than Europe again, just like it was in March
