Weekly update. Europe is getting hit hard by the second wave adding to new records world wide.

Worldwide 2.90 million new cases were reported (up from 2.47 million) and 40,082 new deaths (up from 36,404)

Europe is rising sharply, the USA is starting to follow along, both driving up the total cases worldwide.

The continents

Europe is rising sharply, 1.26 million new cases last week (up from 888K) and 10,432 new deaths (up from 7,513)
Asia reported 654.6K new cases last week (down from 704.9K) and 10,820 new deaths (down from 10,882)
North America reported 542.8K new cases last week (up from 469.3K) and 8,883 new deaths (up from 7,841)
South America reported 359.1K new cases last week (up from 336.2K) and 8,312 new deaths (down from 8,489)
Africa reported 74.4K new cases last week (up from 67.9K) and 1,628 new deaths (down from 1,668)
Oceania reported 2,163 new cases last week (up from 1,231) and 7 deaths (down from 11). It's all French Polynesia atm.

Corners of the world

USA rising more, 458.7K new cases last week (up from 393.8K) and 5,640 new deaths (up from 4,996)
India reported 383.0K new cases last week (down from 453.6K) and 4,960 new deaths (down from 5,582)
Brazil reported 154.1K new cases last week (up from 144.4K) and 3,299 new deaths (down from 3,537)
Iran reported 34.5K new cases last week (up from 30.0K) and 2,115 new deaths (up from 1,772)
Canada reported 17.6K new cases last week (up from 16.0K) and 166 new deaths (up from 137)
South Africa reported 12.2K new cases last week (up from 11.9K) and 521 new deaths (down from 823)

Japan, South Korea and Australia remaining stable, although South Korea had a slight uptick at the end of the week.
Australia is doing great, only 1 death reported last week.

Europe in detail

Only Ireland is managing to stave off the second wave, Norway is still the best place to be in Europe.
Deaths are now also rising in Europe, it's time to do something.

Europe's deaths peaked at 4,917 on April 7th, yesterday it was up to 1,980 for a single day.
Europe's cases peaked at 54,487 (outlier) on April 2nd, yesterday it was up to 231,395.

Good job on protecting the vulnerable so far and also much more testing nowadays, yet this is a bad way to enter the winter season.
