Alkibiádēs said: Pretty pointless comparison considering how late most of these Switch ports were. Not to mention Vgchartz is unreliable to begin with. And of course, no digital sales. Crash Bandicoot N'Sane Trilogy on Switch & Xbox One will be a great comparison. Or that new Monster Boy game. |
Not all were late ports, like L.A. Noire, FIFA, AoT2 or Street Fighter. And yes, more releases head to head come later. For Crash VGC has no data yet.
The Wonder Boy remake (spiritual predecessor of Monster Boy) has sold more on Switch, but overall on both platforms only 50K (which is why it is missing in above list).
We can only work with the data we have, VGC-data of physical sales is the best comparable data we have. For everything else we have bits and pieces which are incomparable.
And as often, the userbase has only marginal effect on the sales, it also depends on the games in question. PS4 had after launch with small userbase for late ports like Tomb Raider or GTA great sales. You could also see, that Switch versions of games already outsell in half the cases theXB1 version, despite having only half the userbase. That all can only used partly as an excuse. And we can see, that for some genres even late ports do extraordinary on Switch. I pointed out BattleChasers earlier for instance. Others do badly despite being released at the same time, like FIFA. That is the really interesting stuff.
