Has TGB ever complained about long cutscenes?

OK first of all. Who is he to say what a ND game should be like and a hack & slash game should be like? Ever heard of Way of the Warrior, from ND.

Going by your OP, yes he complained about GOW cutscenes, but as I said above I've heard he likes MGS.

Youre basicaly criticising the game for being exactly what it set out to be, its like watching a comedy and then saying it sucks cause its a comedy not an horror movie. Youd have a point if the game had been advertised as more of the same and then you got it and it was completly different, when in fact they said from the get go, this is very very different from the old games, anyone who plays it expecting the old games will obviously be disapointed.

Point 2 is nonsensical tough, stats work like that, they don't change mechanics (some even actualy do, like luck and cooldown) they just make you stronger, thats how stats work. And there are a lot of depth to the whole thing here, you have talismans with different use powers, different rune skills, enchantments with a multitude of different passive abilitys, pommels that have a multitude of effects that affect gameplay and even armor sets that give you some extra skills that will also have a visible impact on gameplay (aside from learnable skills).

About point 4, thats just not true, ppl who don't want anything to change have a problem with the new GoW, but a lot of ppl who love the series (me included) played the new GoW and loved it to bits understanding that this was a different take on the series and because it has enormous respect and love to the lore of the world and the character of Kratos. Also the gameplay is pure fun.

And adressing the comparison to TLoU again, this game ahs nothing in common to that one, aside from having a companion, and even that isn't very similar cause Atreus is fundamentaly integrated on the gameplay. I played on the "Give me God of War" difficulty and completed 100% of the game, the difficulty is super brutal and Atreus is the key to sucess, the kid can do wonders in battle, by himself and at your command, without him the gameplay looses half of its fun.

Also the whole underline worry that the youtuber has, that this game is bad for the industry because it has too much story, is a falacy caus ethe industry needs as many single player games as it can get since companies nowadays only want to do some multiplayer arena of whatever with no story where you repeatedly do the same thing over and over again and gets addicted.

>The previous God of Wars were single-player games too! That's sort of besides the point however, TGB's concern is this new God of War's success could influence other hack-and-slash games to start incorporating these TLoU conventions, conventions he's not a fan of.

Outside having a kid this game is nothing like Last of Us. People really need to stop....puzzles, gameplay, game world, fights, nothing like it at all.

Person who made this post hasn't even played the game to have a valid opinion. Saying it could be bad for the industry is one of the dumbest things ive read.

I'd consider it bad for the industry if it started to influence other hack-and-slash games to start adopting things from it like over-the-shoulder camera view and less emphasis on hack-and-slash and more emphasis on narrative.

GamingBritShow is a Devil May Cry fanboy who always hated on the old God of War games for being different kind of hack and slash and popular than DMC. This makes his complaints about this game being different than older GOW games funnier. He criticises the game for doing what Naughty Dog games do while he praises Naughty Dog games.

He is so full of shit. Always been a God of War hater and has an echo chamber of followers chanting what he says while they haven't played the game. He is justifying his rant on E3 2016 reveal in the face of gamers and critics saying otherwise. Funny that all haters are the people who didn't play the game.

Is making cinematic games an intellectual property of Naughty Dog? Its dumb to say cinematic is fine in 1 game and not the other, because reasons.

As for the God of War hatred, you can see it in his God of War 4 rant. He doesn't know shit about the games, just whizzed past the older games on the easiest difficulty and didn't pay attention to the variety on offer as he does with Japanese hack and slash games. He is a douchebag.

I AM waiting for my copy. Cant wait to play the best game of the generation só far

You can't criticise one dev of doing the same thing you love another dev for and that's what TGBS is doing. Its apparent from all his other videos that he hates older God of War games and he continues to hate on the series to this day, just finds some reason for it. His analysis of the combat in previous games is misleading, like he only played them on easy mofde going over all the nuances. The fact he says God of War is a hack and slash game for kids in his God of War 4 rant two years ago shows that he is full of crap. I'll call him for what he is, a douchebag.

I say this as someone who enjoys his Devil May Cry 3 analysis. Those are on point. His bias clouds his judgement here and his video on Ratchet and Clank on PS4 not being as good as the first, yeah not sure if he understands that 60fps doesn't necessarily make a game better to play than 30fps when that 30fps game has tighter mechanics. He is eloquent but dumb, though he shows hints of intelligence every once in a while.

I assume you speak of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tY6vIDCK7iQ

Where does he say "God of War is a hack and slash game for kids"?

I share the sentiment. I’m one of the few who thinks The last of us is boring. I prefer dynamic games to scripted cinematic games. I didn’t find god of war as boring as the last of us. Maybe because I like the source material more I didn’t mind the cinematic moments as much but I thought it was paced well for me. The combat, puzzle, narrative ratio was well balanced. It was the same as the older games which were heavily cinematic.

I will admit that we could have used more fast travel areas, the back travel seems grIndy after the endgame. The map is pretty useless as well. Those were my only complaints which are minor. The combat system was more engaging than the last of us stealth mechanics for example. I just can’t compare god of war to that class of games.

I'm gonna assume it's not a real depression.

I have bought it but not played yet. I do enjoy the old style outright cause i'm not a fan of the Souls type formula.

But heck, same thing happened with Resident Evil 7. Rather than be depressed, admit that the series doesn't appeal to you in this form and don't buy the games. Go for something else.
I dislike what RE7 has become and i walked away from the series aslong as it is that way. It simply doesn't interest me. I tried to find what i enjoy in the evil within series instead. Even if that series ends, i'm still not interested in FP RE and simply won't play it. I have no interest.

So... move on? If the series changed to something you don't like, give it a pass. Play some Bayonetta or Devil may cry instead.

I don't think it was a real depression either but he certainly sounded very bummed by the end of the video at the encroachment of cinematic elements.

Well the YouTuber in question, TheGamingBrit, didn't want to play this new God of War but many in his viewership forced his hand.

Speaking of Resident Evil 7, I'm a tremendous fan of Resident Evil 4 and that was a drastic departure from the initial RE formula. Prior to RE4, I played RE on the GameCube and didn't like it too much. The controls just seemed terrible to me.

I'll forever love RE4 but I can now sort of see why some RE fans might not be too fond of it.

Here's to Bayonetta and DMC staying true to the hack-and-slash formula.
