Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What could the rest of the 2018 Release Schedule for the Nintendo Switch Be? (Predictions)

Hot off the heels of the latest Nintendo Direct, we now have more and more games coming for the Switch in good quantity.
The rest of the year (So Far) looks as follows:

March: Kirby
April: Labo, South Park,
May: Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors: DE, Little Nightmares, Dark Souls
June: Mario Tennis Aces, Sushi Striker,
July: Octopath Traveler, Captain Toad, Crash 'N' Sane Trilogy

Additionally we got some more games that are coming in 2018 but do not have a date (Okami, SMASH BROS.!), in addition to the ones we already knew about before but we not showcased (Yoshi, Fire Emblem)

That makes me wonder how the rest of the Switch's 2018 can play out? This Direct is most likely the last one before E3 2018, and I'm 99% sure that Nintendo had some big games they could have shown off here, but held off on because they're saving them for E3, and no, I'm not talking about Pokemon or Metroid Prime 4.
So this is how I think the rest of the 2018 release schedule might play out, with us getting at least one 1st party game every month:

Mid to Late August: Yoshi

September: Smash Bros.
Because that's when the Switch's Paid Online Service starts, and there is no bigger 1st party, multiplayer game they can launch that service with than this. They HAVE to release it here if they want to bring in lots of subscribers right out of the gate.

Late September to Early October: Travis Strikes Back

Late October-Early November: Animal Crossing Switch.
I believe that we will get an announcement and reveal for the next Animal Crossing game for the Switch at E3 with a simultaneous worldwide release date slated for Late October, the exact same position as Super Mario Odyssey was in last year. Animal Crossing, I think, is going to be Nintendo's big 1st Party title that they will release for the holiday season. It will do much bigger numbers and sell much more hardware in Japan than Odyssey, and thanks to the advantages of both Pocket Camp and releasing just in time for the holiday season, it's going to do record breaking numbers for the Animal Crossing franchise in the West.

Early December: Fire Emblem Switch
I believe that we'll finally see Fire Emblem at E3 and it'll be given an Early December simultaneous worldwide release date, the exact same position as Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was in last year. And just like Animal Crossing > Mario, Fire Emblem will do much bigger numbers and sell more hardware in Japan than Xenoblade 2 AND just like Animal Crossing, it will have the advantages of Fire Emblem Heroes and releasing right in the middle of the holiday season, leading to record breaking numbers for the Fire Emblem franchise in the West.

That's what I hypothesize the rest of 2018 looking like for the Nintendo Switch. As far as I know, E3 could completely crap all over my prediction and give us something else. Only time will tell. But what say you guys?

One thing: fire emblem has never, EVER been realesed in Q4.

Mainline Pokemon had never been made for a console, but there's a first time for everything.

Where’s my new mario strikers? :(

Well technically the Switch is also a handheld sooo...

But you're right and it's about time that a Nintendo home console got a mainline, fully 3D Pokemon game instead of the Stadium / Colosseum type games or other spinoffs.  They have no choice now that the 3DS is on its way out and the Switch is selling like hotcakes.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I feel like Nintendo would want a mario game in 2018. That could be SMM Deluxe or sequel, 3D World deluxe, or a Galaxy 1 + 2 HD.

There is also a possibility that Pikmin 4, SMT, and Ace Attorney to all come in 2018. Even though we heard barely or nothing at all from these games.

Regarding third party stuff, Diablo 3 is stil hanging. I wonder if GTA or Overwatch have any hope at alll..... lol. I am still begging for ea to put more support on the Switchwith the Sims 4. Maybe they can even port PvsZGW.

Besides Mario Tennis? Well, I wouldn't be surprised if we got 2D Mario of SOME sorts, whether it's Mario Maker or a new 2D game from scratch. What I'd REALLY love is a revisit to Super Mario World, after how awesome Sonic Mania was, I'd love for Nintendo to follow suit a return to glorious classic Mario form, and I don't mean the New Super Mario Bros. series.

Pikmin 4, maybe. SMT and Ace Attorney, no.

I think Overwatch is very likely at this point. Between Rocket League, ARMS, Splatoon 2, and now Smash Bros. the competitive multiplayer scene is very much present and vivid on the Nintendo Switch. I think Overwatch would fit in perfectly and could do sell beyond Activision's expectations. And Grand Theft Auto V would just be the port to end all ports.

20 games preorderd ATM just on the Switch?

What is your profession and how much does it pay?!
