Additionally we got some more games that are coming in 2018 but do not have a date (Okami, SMASH BROS.!), in addition to the ones we already knew about before but we not showcased (Yoshi, Fire Emblem)
That makes me wonder how the rest of the Switch's 2018 can play out? This Direct is most likely the last one before E3 2018, and I'm 99% sure that Nintendo had some big games they could have shown off here, but held off on because they're saving them for E3, and no, I'm not talking about Pokemon or Metroid Prime 4.
So this is how I think the rest of the 2018 release schedule might play out, with us getting at least one 1st party game every month:
Mid to Late August: Yoshi
September: Smash Bros.
Because that's when the Switch's Paid Online Service starts, and there is no bigger 1st party, multiplayer game they can launch that service with than this. They HAVE to release it here if they want to bring in lots of subscribers right out of the gate.
Late September to Early October: Travis Strikes Back
Late October-Early November: Animal Crossing Switch.
I believe that we will get an announcement and reveal for the next Animal Crossing game for the Switch at E3 with a simultaneous worldwide release date slated for Late October, the exact same position as Super Mario Odyssey was in last year. Animal Crossing, I think, is going to be Nintendo's big 1st Party title that they will release for the holiday season. It will do much bigger numbers and sell much more hardware in Japan than Odyssey, and thanks to the advantages of both Pocket Camp and releasing just in time for the holiday season, it's going to do record breaking numbers for the Animal Crossing franchise in the West.
Early December: Fire Emblem Switch
I believe that we'll finally see Fire Emblem at E3 and it'll be given an Early December simultaneous worldwide release date, the exact same position as Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was in last year. And just like Animal Crossing > Mario, Fire Emblem will do much bigger numbers and sell more hardware in Japan than Xenoblade 2 AND just like Animal Crossing, it will have the advantages of Fire Emblem Heroes and releasing right in the middle of the holiday season, leading to record breaking numbers for the Fire Emblem franchise in the West.
That's what I hypothesize the rest of 2018 looking like for the Nintendo Switch. As far as I know, E3 could completely crap all over my prediction and give us something else. Only time will tell. But what say you guys?
