Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Crash Bandicoot Nsane Trilogy coming to Switch

When you think of the NES, what do you think when you think software? Now do the same for SNES, Genesis, PS1 etc. Did a fucking PORT come to mind? I'm guessing not.

And how many of these non-ports which come to mind were released in the first 12 - 18 months of the system?

Here are the NES games of its first 18 months:

30 games after 18 months, and most of the better ones are ports from arcade:

So where are the NES games of the first years that come to mind and aren't ports?

Such a small selection after 1.5 years (a handful of good titles and a total of 30 games) would be unacceptable today, especially with that much competition.

Of course the library has to be enhanced by good titles ported from other systems.

Are these games any good? They look kind of weird to me but i'm willing to give it a shot.

Games like Donkey Kong, Pacman, and even Tetris were ports and people LOVED them

Tetris on Gameboy, sure, people loved. But that was because it was the first time it released. The NES version was ignored for the most part.

Do you really think that the Gameboy version of Tetris was the first version?

The Gameboy itself was launched in 1989

The original Tetris was already released in 1986 and ported to many other systems long before the Gameboy port:

Nevertheless if you think about Gameboy games, many ports come to mind.

Since there´s no "Only on PS4" written on the box art of the PS4 version, it was obvious it was coming to other platforms.

If the rumors are true, it´ll be the same thing with the Spyro remake, PS4 timed exclusive.

This is a fun thread.

I really only care because I want Crash in Smash.

It's great to see Crash back on Nintendo again. Might even get an Amiibo. I really hope he's coming to Smash.

Apparently Toys for Bob are handling the port, the guys who did many of the Skylanders games.

Looks decent, seems not too much was cut back from the PS4 version.

Oh, you mean the port that had a brand new Mario game that never released in the US up to that point? Is that the one you're referring to?

With that kind of backpedaling you undermine your own argument, because now you have to acknowledge ports as new games when they contain some new content. In the case of Super Mario All-Stars, it's only 25% that can be called new.

And since we are in a thread that is about Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, it's a collection of three games that had never been released on a Nintendo console before. If you consider your backpedaling to region-specific releases to be valid, you have no choice but to accept console-specific releases as well.

The only thing I don't have a choice in is convincing people that it's ok to both love something while acknowledging that it's not better than something else. When people like something, it seems they are incapable psychologically from seeing faults in it or accepting that others don't. What is current is better. What is new is better, what they love... is best.

People need to believe that the things they enjoy are good because they feel it validates them. Any argument against it is met with fierce and brutal, borderline obsessive counter arguments... most of them flimsy and filled with half truths and tiled perspectives. It's all just a bunch of mumbo jumbo defensive mechanisms and I have learned years ago that you can't fight those. The only thing you can do is walk away and let them be.
