These leaks showing Switch 2 dont do much for me. Everyone already have the idea that the next system will be a better Switch. If these images are the real deal, I can understand why Nintendo didnt bother to prevent this to happen.

What I want to see now is what it can do and I am positive theres something hidden that will incredibly distinguish itself from Switch other than better graphics, the joycon attachment and some extra fan on the dock

I join you on your point. An iterative system like this is possibly isn't exactly gonna wow from the get-go by its hardware feature set that looks really close to the first Switch.

At the end of the day, what is the breaking factor on any console is gonna be a simple thing :

THE GAMES

We need to see how uniquely can Nintendo position the new hardware to have a place in the ecosystem with it's software offering.

Backwards Compatibility is already a nice thing, but it's statistically not the reason most people do migrate to a new system.

Need to see if they can exploit the performance of this new machine.

For all intense and purposes, I don't think the jump in power will change much of their development philosophy. I don't even think most of their games will push a graphical fidelity that's insane in comparison to the AAA industry.

Although it doesn't need and the Switch is the proof of that. Nonetheless, solid running performance seems more than attainable now thankfully.

Ehhh, I could see them going either way. But I think they should just leave the 'Smash Bros' crossover appeal to Smash Bros and just let Mario Kart be its own self-contained thing within the Mario universe.

You know that saying of, "Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing?" The biggest reason why Smash Bros is so special and such a huge deal every time we get a new game is because of the concept of gaming's greatest legends and icons coming together to beat the shit out of each other. And the fact that it's the ONLY franchise where something like that is possible. If Nintendo did a "Smash Kart" or a "Smash Party" for all their franchises, then Smash Bros. wouldn't really be that special anymore.

I think Smash would still be plenty special. There is a big difference between a racing game, where characters are pretty much all skins, and a fighting game where each character actually brings their unique traits from their games. I don't feel like I would be the least bit less excited for Smash if they made a Nintendo themed cart racer.

And, I just don't see where else they go with the Mario Kart franchise. With the DLC, MK8 now has pretty much every course throughout the history of the game that's worth racing through. And virtually every Mario family character is already playable. Racing through Brinstar as Kirby just feels a lot more interesting than Bowser's Castle 10.

Then why not revive Diddy Kong Racing and/or F-Zero? Mario Kart is great, but it's not the only great racing game in the Nintendo library.

b/c is great because it gives me additional years added without having to worry about losing the ability to play said games.

But ya excited to see what the next 3D Mario, 2D Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda and Pokemon games will be like.

well...it was nice having the past 3m ignoring almost all NSW2 rumors. Since the reveal window has grown realistically close again, ig im just gonna have to suffer for a while until Nintendo finally decides to drop this thing.

At this point, we know the logo, we have seen the new Joy Cons + Switch 2 system, and we may already have a good idea on what the dock may look like. With the motherboard also potentially out there, all that's left to see are the games & UI...and that's literally all I care abt. The next 3D Mario, MarioKart, Animal Crossing, Smash Bros, etc.

Me too, but I'd be even more excited for a new Donkey Kong, new F-Zero, new Star Fox WITHOUT THE STAR FOX ZERO CONTROLS, new Punch-Out and new Smash Bros.

I know. It makes me nervous.

A fear I have is that Nintendo thinks Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Deluxe (haha), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Deluxe, and a new or casual IP is enough of a first-party lineup for launch. We need a new Mario Kart or 3D Mario day one.

We could also see a Wii U strategy return where most of the launch third-party games are ports of games that are months to over a year old. Having some of those in there is fine, but not ideal as just about the only option.

The stereotypes are a lame reason to not make another Punch-Out game.
