Sometimes you're like me and have a big backlog to get through, so shorter games can be good in that case.

Yeah, I'm trying to pace myself in it but I'm definitely going to beat it the end of this weekend. I'm going to 100% Wonder and beat Spider-Man 2. Then I'm going to have to tackle my actual backlog and I'm not really looking forward to that. Not sure how the other games can compete with those 3.

I still need to play through all the Mario Kart 8 DX Booster Pass grand prixs, and then at least finish Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

Had you never played it before?

I have.

At least 10 times - on the SNES version.

Sorry if my last post confused you lol - I meant to say this remake has so much charm (moreso than the original).

While I'm not the kind to buy remakes/remasters of games I already own, I gotta say, Mario RPG is gorgeous, really love how well they brought its visuals up to current standards.
More impressive is that apparently it's made on Unity, an engine with a not so great track record on Switch. Goes to show, talent can trump technology.

Speaking of remasters/remakes from Nintendo, it's weird how I realized that I did buy many of them this generation since I missed so many of these games that passed me by during my scholarship years.

Grateful in most cases they got this kind of release because I also do think Nintendo/Square did a good job with most them.

Though I guess Square did have to revise their strategy after the EPIC failing of the Secret of Mana remake lol.

For a limited time, you can earn 20% in My Nintendo Gold Points on your purchase or renewal of a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online or Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.
From 11/21/23 at 9:00 a.m. PT to 12/6/23 at 11:59 p.m. PT

That's a decent incentive to sign up for Nintendo Switch Online if you were ever on the fence.

I could definitely renew my subscription, although I do know my online is mostly limited so good thing the base subscription is just 30 Canadian bucks here

I have said all along I wanted more remakes along the lines of Links Awakening... And Super Mario RPG delivers on that.
It takes the original, refines and updates it, but only where it needs it.

...But I feel the console itself is still missing StarFox and Donkey Kong Country releases to really make it a stand-out platform that rivals the SNES as my favorite console.
I would even be happy with a port of the 3DS remaster of StarFox.

Still got another year or two of game releases to dribble in, so could be very interesting as we transition over to Switch 2.

Maybe we'll get lucky and a Mario RPG-style remake of Star Fox and one of the Donkey Kong Country trilogy will be on Switch 2, better yet at least one of them as a launch title.

I sincerely hope we're are not getting one of those. I would much prefer new games on their respective franchise instead. Especially since we already have the DKC trilogy and Star Fox games on the NSO.
