The problem with Nintendo going third party outright is I don't think they'd simply be as good of a company that way.

They wouldn't bother to try ideas like Splatoon or ARMS or bring back niche IP like Kid Icarus or Pilotwings or Punch-Out! etc. etc.

It would just be Mario/Mario Kart/Smash/Pokemon/Donkey Kong/Kirby/Zelda and maybe Metroid once in a while over and over and over again, just like companies like EA only make FIFA/Star Wars/Battlefield/Madden NFL/NHL, etc.

When you don't have any responsibility to a hardware platform, you have no real responsibility to growing the user base.

It's not like the Switch games look awful or anything, Zelda and Mario and even ARMS all look quite pretty. Would I prefer them running on a 1 TFLOP system at least? Sure. But I do like we are actually getting a real trade off this time in portability ... now I can play these games on long flights, to me that's a big plus, whereas the Wii/Wii U were underpowered for the sake of a controller, and that wore off real quick.

The day Nintendo goes 3rd party will be the sadest day in video game history.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

And follow the line of complacency like the rest of the industry? No thanks, there's enough of that already.

While both PS4 and One are "safe" products by their respective manufacturers, they're also incredibly complacent and aren't really trying to improve in a significant manner (VR and Kinect could be argued, but VR is tiny and of no importance yet and Kinect is an utter failure as a gaming implement) over the PS3 and 360, they're both about as edgy as an AC/DC t-shirt at a youth club.

Playstation and Microsoft should go third party and develop for PC considering that's what their failing at trying to be. Man all this Nintendo hype sure is triggering a lot of folks here.

It's obvious by now users such as yourself and many other Nintendo-bashing individuals on these forums create these threads for nothing more than a reaction.

There will always be a market leader. Nintendo has been the market leader on 3 occasions and has never lost the market lead in the portable market. Why should they fold when there considered the most successful in this buisness.

If you can't afford it than move on. Nothing wrong with having them around.

You didn't answer the question.

And you assume that because I'm asking you this, it means I agree that Nintendo should go third party. I don't.

I agree Xbox and PS should go 3rd party. Nintendos history and success in the industry is your answer to why they should stay in the console buisness.

Yes I definitely agree with the topic.
Nintendo proved that they are completely out of touch when they released the Wii U and now they do the exact same mistake with the Switch. This stupidness will lead to Nintendo becoming a third party developer.

Why? The Switch looks great, and now the handheld and console are combined they can release a lot more games on the same system.

By the way, what is it with all the negativity here on VGChartz? On youtube, most people are very exited for the Switch.

I'm not asking why Nintendo shouldn't go third party. I'm asking what's your reasons for saying Sony and MS should go third party.

So far, I take it you have no reasonable argument to provide as to why they should.

That would be boring as hell. I like my Nintendo hardware. Not only because of the games, but also because it's always something fresh and different. The rest of the market just became so boring, everything is the same. PlayStation and Xbox are just Mini PCs, the magic is gone. So please Nintendo, keep on doing what you're doing and keep on amazing me.

But that's just me of course.
