Absolutely. Black Friday sales will also tell us a lot about Mafia 3. |
Yeah I can see this game getting an insane BF deal to clear most of the stock.

Like what and where?
The game sold well on its first week in the UK and for some reason they has good legs.
We'll see next Thursday if it is the same in US.

Ummmm..... congrats, 2K?

According to Claire it sold 3 million worldwide.
66% of total shipments if true.

But many of those copies are going to be returned or at least yeld a lower revenue on future Take Two shipped products to retail, in compensation for lots of unsold copies. That's how retail works in gaming. If a publisher overships and generates lots of unsold copies the retailer gets compensation.
There's an element of smoke & mirrors and PR manipulation with regards to this 4.5 million figure that is only possible to achieve by the biggest publishers. Because by all the common metrics Mafia 3 is a huge flop.
No matter how you slice it Mafia 3 was a flop and will never make any profit.
There's going to be a ton of heavy discounts for this game come Black Friday week.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
they will have some troubles selling through their first shipment. But hey that means lower prices and that's certainly a good thing for the consumer.
