Aside from the games you always hear about, I'd recommend almost anything from Atlus, and most games Xseed brings over to the US.

The rest of the world will be waiting another 2-4 years for that game... SE loves to take their sweet time with translating DQ games... I'd know, DQ is my fave series ;~;

3DS plays DS games. You should get the Dragon Quest series from DS. You can also get FF3 and don't forget later on there will be DQ7,8, and the like. If you're a DQ fan then you should be set.

Does'nt seem like you've been able to help the OP.  Is that because you think everything on the system is bad?
Others have been able to consructively help point the OP towards the hilights of the system.  How hard is this to understand?

I can understand the stories in Fates aren't so good in certain parts, but the gameplay is bland? You probably wouldn't like FE as a whole, since Fates is probably the most interesting of all the games in terms of gameplay.

And MH... no comment on that. I haven't played it.

I'm sure there are some games on the 3DS that you would like, though what kind of games do you like? There are other JRPGs on the console, but not sure if I can recommend them, since they may not reach your standards, storywise.
