Forums - Nintendo - Investors Not Happy With the Switch, Want More Mobile

Why the hell would a company make an exclusive Souls game? PS4 + XB1 have a userbase of what? Like 60-70 million already, that will be clear of 80-85 million easy by the time NS even launches.

The only way Nintendo is getting exclusives is if they agree to pay full development cost or they are pre-existing portable exclusives like Monster Hunter and Yokai Watch IMO.

That BG&E game will be on PS4/XB too if Nintendo doesn't have an iron clad full exclusivity on it too (see: Zombi U, Rayman Legends). Third party exclusives are not really a thing anymore, even PS4 which is dominating the market does not get many exclusives. Games are too expensive to make these days to keep them away from huge portions of your audience base.

funded by Nintendo, just like bloodborne was funded by sony.

exactly.

third party exclusives are a thing when a company pays for the development, just like the rumor of beyond good and evil 2.

basically the same answer for all your points, the answer is money.

It's really only an issue for games that can't get funding though to begin with, and those games are likely not going to sell anyway.

I'm sure Microsoft and Sony officials would glad run around the street naked if they could get say an exclusive GTA or COD for just covering the development cost. That's an easy yes.

Most developers understand their franchises have an oppurtunity cost too, even if a console maker is willing to pay for exclusivity, are they also willing to pay for the lost sales you incur from missed sales on competing platforms? That's the bigger issue.

The games that generally end up getting secured for exclusivity are games no publisher is willing to finance on their own, because they're likely going to sell like shit. I loved me some Bayonetta 2, but that game sold like crap (and is heavily overtracked on this site).

@soundwave , the switch is not a improved wiiu, if you read the patents and paid attention to iwata years ago. THE switch is what the wiiu was meant to be, but cost kept them from realizing their vision.
Either way these articles are pure bs and Nintendo hating, because Nintendo doesn't beat to the norm and always bucks it. And the idiots who don't understand and respect Nintendo for what they have done for this industry should go to hell.

We don't have factual informarion so I can't make points without info so we will see, I think NS is going to have a lot of exclusive content by Nintendo and other publishers, just like the 3ds. That's the only solution if third party games are not on par with the ps4 and xbox one version, although the mobility is a feature.

And btw if Nintendo wants a from software exclusive, they will have a from software exclusive, it's about the money. About the gta and cod comment, yeah sony and ms are not going to pay hundreds of millions for the development and marketing of those games, that's why they fund smaller games like bloodborne and sunset overdrive, plus it doesn't make sense for the owners of those big franchises. Now something like bg&e, game like bloodborne, stuff like that are not money makers.

Nintendo's investors have a proven track record of being retarded.

I remember all those Q.As with Iwata.

I miss Iwata....

I LOVE ICELAND!

I think NS will largely do well with the 3DS audience. That's going to be it's main migration base. And most the exclusives it gets will be games that are already exclusive to the 3DS.

It's not suddenly going to stop the PS4 or XB1 from selling one bit though. Maaaaybe at best they can convince a few hardcore PS4/XB players to buy an NS for portable gaming.

Nintendo does their token "developer exclusive" thing, with Wii they financed The Last Story from Mistwalker, with Wii U it was Bayonetta 2 and Devil's Third, maybe for NS if they're feeling extra generous it'll be Beyond Good & Evil 2 and Bayonetta 3. I wouldn't mind that.

Its a soundwave thread based on a wsj article that is not positive towards Nintendo. Nothing to see here folks, move along

OT: well thats how the market works. Investors want one thing, than they get something different and maybe it works, maybe it doesnt. We will have to wait and see where the NS will lead.

Yes I magically have the power to drop Nintendo's stock price by 15% lol.

Just for reference I do believe Nintendo's stock went up when the Wiimote was unveiled and also with the 3DS unveil. It went down with the Wii U unveil and now the Switch unveil.

Nintendo will be fine :) And Switch will be amazing.

No, but someone with your experience (you are here on this site and discussed enough about the stock market) will obviously know that all this means jack shit in the longrun, but you still decide to post it in a very negative light. Maybe I am paranoid, but in the last couple of weeks it felt that you are on a negativity crusade agains Nintendo. If its just my paranoia, simply disregard my comment.
